Default Gary Lockett

According to Dan Rafael Gary Lockett could the next opponent of Arthur Abraham. I have to admit I've never heard of him.

Does he stand a chance? What are his strenghts/weaknesses?

No, he stands no chance.

He is trained by Enzo Calzaghe however.

He has very good power at domestic level, but I don't see him as having anything else I could call a strength against Abraham.

But he is trained by Enzo Calzaghe.

I remember him being a hot prospect up until he fought a guy called Yuri Tsarenko. It was for a nothing title but he got a serious pasting over 12 rounds.
He has never been in the limelight since then although he has kept winning.
He has a decent punch and can be good to watch, but only at domestic level. If I remember rightly he takes a good punch, but against Tsarenko, even when he won the rematch (on his bike) his face was a complete mess.
He would not fare too well against Abraham.

I can't imagine Gary Lockett in with Abraham. AA would murder him. I like Lockett, but he hardly in AA's league

Serious? Yuri pole axed him. Lockett by this stage really bought into his own hype and Yuri completely spoilt the day. The guys face was black and blue and he had 2 horrible black eyes. Since then his been gun shy and has never been the same since.Against Abraham i cant see Lockett winning. He has power in both hands and a decent chin but he just doesnt have the world class calibre to beat a guy like Abraham.

abs is up there with the likes of kelly pavlik as contender for best in the division.

i'd hate to see lockett get bashed up in this one.

someone like felix sturm would be a much better fight for him.

I don't know. That's my source:

Abraham may not be the real champion -- that's Taylor -- but the man can crack. His 11th-round knockout of mandatory challenger Khoren Gevor on Aug. 18 was as sensational as you can ask for. Gevor probably still doesn't know what hit him. Wales' Gary Lockett (29-1) is being discussed as his next challenger.
Next: Dec. 8 vs. TBA.

Dude his not better than Miranda.. Miranda may be wild but he has world class power. Lockett has a very good dig but id hardly say his power is up there with Miranda or AA or even Duddy for that matter.

Lockett actually has a defence, If Miranda was truly world class he would of beat Pavlik.

It was mooted he'd get a shot sometime ago, but nothing came of it.

Becoming "gun shy" had nothing to do with the beating, he changed trainers and tried to change his style from crude banger to boxer. He appears to have had a resurgance now he's with Enzo (as many do) after quite a few years in the dark.

For those who say he has no chance... If Enzo can get an average blown up lightweight (maybe even super feather) Gavin Rees a WBA title it wouldnt surprise me to see him devise a plan to get Gary a middleweight one. Write any Enzo Calzaghe fighter off at your peril, I'd take stamina out of the cons too now he with team calzaghe.

Locket would smash eastman up. Eastman is finished.
