Kalambay must have been some fighter though if he beat McCallum and Graham fair and square
Yes he was. Though both of them got the better of him in their respective rematches. (Though Graham was robbed).

Shame a lot of people think of the Nunn blowout when Kalambay's name is mentioned.

SK deservedly won the first match against Graham though it was close. Didn't see the first MM match.

Trinidad was going to fight Quartey in late 98'. Arum made an offer to Quartey. This came after when Oscar was getting some criticism for his choice of opposition after Whitaker, reaching its low point with the Chavez rematch. Quartey pulled out to fight Oscar, who most likely provided a bigger payday. Tito ended up fighting Whitaker shortly after DLH-Quartey.

Re: Kalambay.

I thought Herol shaded the second fight in Italy but Sumbu was a good winner in their first meeting. The McCallum fight was an easy win for Kalambay. The judges had it way too close. 117-111 was about right.

I remember watching it on Sports World Extra (a proper blast from the past!)

Kalambay won; fairly well, but McCallum did not seem with it that night, and blew some potentially huge pay days because of that performance.

I believe Sugah meant that Lennox avoided the rematch. He mulled things over for a year before deciding against it, and retired.
