I was told by Wayne Alexander - a murderous puncher - that running up hill increases your punch power.

Strange but true.

May sound strange in essence, but when you look deeper into it, he probably meant that it increases the strength in your legs, which can go a long way to developing power - although obviously it's not the be-all-and-end-all (Hearns & Arguello as examples)

Wayne Alexanders power came from been hugely muscular, built like a gymnast and also getting tremendous leverage into his punches. Explosive running may have helped but he was a natural puncher.

Technique. Practise each Punch slowly, making sure you're synchronising the seperate parts of your body involved in punching (rotate the Foot, Hip and Shoulder) into one smooth movement. Punch through EVERYTHING (Bags, Pads etc) you hit, this makes the force spread out.

4:19 onwards.

Use the Heavy Bag as well, the Muscles you use when you're Punching get used to hitting something heavy and with a lot of resistance behind it, land the same Punch on someones Jaw and they're ****ed.

Another improtant thing is to stay relaxed, make sure your Muscles aren't tensed up and exhale with every punch. Warm up properly to loosen yourself up.

Power and drive comes from the Head, Oral cavity. Something to watch that explains it is sprinting. Look where He gets his drive from in relation to His Head, when up and Running at 30 metres, the same principal works in Boxing. When the Head drops near the line they lose the Drive. If you punch through the Bag the same thing happens, the Head moves and you are reaching, if somethings coming the other way theres a problem, and it Hurts

I'd say that was more to with his accuracy or those two Opponents defence that he didn't stop them, a 1,000 lbs of pressure directly on the chin would do damage to most people. I posted it in to show how power is generated by the Feet, Hips and Shoulders, and not the arm.

.30 in Jackson does the same thing.
