Obviously I hope this doesn't happen, but does anybody think that it might?
Reid claimed fairly recently that he 'feels like (he) still has something left to offer the sport' & was willing to come out of retirement to fight Dodson for the British title, if Dodson had beaten Magee (he stated this when Magee-Dodson was slated to take place last March for the British title). At the time he showed no interest in fighting Magee, but that might change now after last nights result. And of course the fight would only take place if Magee wanted it to, considering he's the current EBU champ, so I suppose the question i'm asking is would Magee be interested in revenge over Reid? Would it sell in Ireland? On paper a fight against a former world champion/olympic medalist whose granite chin no longer remains, might seem quite a good idea - a comfortable, possibly lucrative defence of Magee's European title whilst trying to land a shot against Stieglitz for an even bigger prize. |

Certainly Reid has nothing left to prove and is generally well respected within the game. It's one of them that I would watch out of curisoity if it happened but I would rather it didn't!!! |

Yeah Tsypko is a good shout.
The revenge/robbery angle can also be used to promote that fight aswell. Unfortunately for Magee the only world rankings that he need concern himself with at the moment are the IBF/WBO rankings (what with the WBC/WBA belts tied up in the super six). Unless he fancies a shot at Sartison for the WBA's 'regular' belt. |

He is. I was just speculating.
I just though that Magee might like a nice lucrative fight while he awaits an even bigger prize. This fight would probably sell well, Magee could make a comfortable defence of his EBU title, make a nice few quid, get revenge over the man who took his 0, whilst plotting a path that would take him nearer to Stieglitz (which he must be hoping for). As a big fan if Robin's i'd be hoping he stayed retired, and his talk of returning never materialised. |

The first fight was a strange one. Reid scoring knockdowns but not exactly dominating the fight. The mutiple knockdowns took him to win. Remember him clipping Magee a few times and him going down off balance if i remember rightly.
Would i wanna see it again...well i didn't wanna see a rematch after the fight so i don't wanna see it now but revenge is something that eats away at most fighters. |
