Default One thing you can't take away from American and Mexican boxers...

There are more entertaining American/Mexican fights than there are entertaining European fights. It's not even close.

So not true. European fighters just don't get as much exposure on american TV but they have their fair share of excellent scraps.

I watch as much of it as I can actually. Euros seem to have a refined hardness that fascinates me.

They need more exposure on American TV, but hey, I don't run a network.

I agree. As an american I only find out about european fighters like 30 fights into their career unless they are promoted by Frank ******.

Just take a look at HBO's schedule. Of the 34 fights they have shown this year only 5 featured a european.

VK x 2
JC
Kessler
Urkal (who was really just there to serve as a punching bag for Cotto)

Of course that hardness I was referring too was displayed by Urkal. He knew he couldn't win, but he was there to fight regardless. No mailing it in.

Each section of the world seems to bring different qualities to the ring, both good and bad. I am fascinated by the hardness of Euros, the toughness of Mexicans, the brashness of Americans, the relentlessness of the Filipinos etc.

Euro boxing sucks as a whole they should stick to Soccer. I would rather watch MMA rather than euro bums go at it. there are some exceptions though Like Ricky Hatton NOW theres a fighter that comes to fight everytime.

i do!

and its not comparable. european boxing is heavily influenced by eastern euro amateur style.........hands up, tight guard.

lots of blocking of punches, not so much headmovement.

nearly no infighting.

that may be effective, but its also somewhat boring to watch.

the americans/latins fight employ much less of a tight guard. they slip punches, look to counter. and practice alot of infighting. that results in exciting fights.

americans are under alot more pressure to entertain. it doesent matter how good you are, if you are boring, you will still get bad press........like say whitaker did. or roy jones.

a boring fighter like ottke would have never sold a single ticket in the states.
but in germany he was a star.

or could you imagine ottke fighting in mexico???
he very well would have gotten lynched....
