Lewis around the start of the decade was probably still better than Wlad is now, but taking into account he only fought til '03- he cannot be ranked in the #1 spot. Second I could accept, but not first
No Oscar on any of the lists. If I owned Ring I'd have myself on the top of every division I fought in, and maybe some I didn't fight in too Quote:

I think Valuev might even sneak into the list at 10th (maybe). He was pretty effective after all |

Cotto is dreadfully underrated in the back of a dubious loss to Margarito and a catchweight loss to Pac. What about his wins over Shane, Clottey, Quintana, Judah?
He's got claims for top spot IMO, certainly not seventh. |

They have Mosely at 1 and yet Cotto all the way down at 7? Cotto has some of the best wins at WW over the past decade. Apart from Floyd and Williams he has fought everyone at the weight.

2 - Lewis/Vitali 3 - Lewis/Vitali 4 - Byrd 5 - Ruiz 6 - Rahman 7 - Chagaev 8 - Valuev 9 - Brewster 10 - Peter Number 2 is tough for me. I might have to go and have a look at exactly who Lewis fought since 2000. I'd also have to take away Vitali's win over Hide, which was 99. I'm not 100% on Chagaev either, he might be too high. His wins over Valuev and Ruiz are at least enough to get him ahead of Peter though |

Lewis beat.....
Grant Tua Rahman Tyson Klitschko That's a better ledger than Wlad's. If Lewis didn't beat Vitali you'd have to argue Wlad's case. I think they are ranking Vitali above Wlad partly on H2H, plus Vitali doesn't have embarrassing KO losses to shit opposition. |

This list reminds me of the Top 100 list a few weeks ago; loads of established names are below fighters that are currently active and also some hypejobs
. It is wank. Pleasantly surprised by Haye's CW ranking, though.

Wlad doesn't have the big names Lewis does, but he has years of beating up top 10 heavyweights in his favour. For me, his quantity of wins puts him above Lewis for the decade. |

Tyson was there for the taking yes, but he'd still be one of Wlad's top 3 or 4 wins.
The Rahman win isn't cancelled out by the loss, it's a bad loss yes, but Rahman was hardly a joke opponent, again, that version of Rahman would be pretty high on Wlad's ledger. Spending a decade beating decent fighters is commendable, but he doesn't hold wins over any of Lewis, Tyson, Vitali, Holyfield and so on. The top 10 in Wlad's prime isn't all that cracking. It isn't his fault of course, but I find it difficult to rate him highly as a result. Understand your point though

I knocked up this quick top 10 welter list, didn't really look into other welters of the last decade so just stuck with those on the Ring list:
1. Mosley 2. Cotto 3. Forrest 4. Margarito 5. Spinks 6. Mayorga 7. Mayweather 8. P Williams 9. Pacquiao 10. Baldomir I just don't see how Mayweather and Pacquiao could be 2nd and 3rd in the list. |

Marco Antonio Barrera is the best Featherweight of the decade. He beat far greater opposition than Marquez did, who's best wins were against Peden and Medina, and Pacquiao had only just three fights there, whereas Barrera faced and defeated Erik Morales, Naseem Hamed, Enrique Sanchez, Johnny Tapia, and Kevin Kelley in a two year period. Worthy of note, Hamed and Morales were both undefeated P4P entrants at the time, and Manny didn't win all of his three fights at 126lbs.
