Amir Khan against Breidis Prescott.

He lasted a lot longer than I thought he would, fair play to him.

Walter McGowan outclassed Chartchai Chionoi, first fight in particular in Bangkok until he was stopped on cuts.

I think that Frank Bruno in his first fight with Mike Tyson is more than worthy of note...

He gave a very credible performance against Tyson who was very much in his prime...most could not get past a round, he nearly changed the course of boxing history with that uppercut...if only our Frank would have backed him up...

How about Robin Reid against Calzaghe? Many felt he actually won that one.

That's a very good argument and could be a thread on it's own...

Although I'm generally percieved as "anti-Calzaghe" (which I'm not, I just don't rate his career or sloppy punching technique as highly as others), I actually do feel he won the fight against Reid. I can see an arguement either way to be fair.
(Hopkins beat him though. )

Back on topic, the fact that Robin came within a gnat's **** of winning against one of the "so called" greatest Brits ever, must be recognised as a great effort in a losing performance.

I agree with your point on Reids performance...

I am a Calzaghe fan, he did what he did and beat all comers who stood in front of him... The likes of Tucker Pudwill and a few others that were very poor indeed... Not all his fault though...

I went to the Hopkins fight as with many of Calzaghes fights and I feel that if the decision would have gone to Hopkins there would not have been many arguments...
