Carl Froch's promoter says that showing the WBC super-middleweight champion's fights on pay-per-view television is the only option for his fighter. The 32-year-old defends his title against Mikkel Kessler in Herning, Denmark on 24 April. But the Nottingham man's bout can only be seen in the United Kingdom on the Primetime television network. "For marquee fights right now, it seems pay-per-view is the only route," Mick Hennessy told BBC Radio Nottingham. "Everyone's going be disappointed that boxing's not on terrestrial television, because it's free to air and goes out to the masses. "It's just right in this day and age, because it's hard for terrestrial TV to find the money that's necessary to make a fight like this." Froch's gritty win over Andre Dirrell at the Nottingham Arena in October was also shown on Primetime, but in the past his fights have been broadcast on the BBC and ITV. And Hennessy did not rule out future Froch fights being shown on terrestrial television. "I haven't put it out of my mind, because everything changes so quickly in boxing," Hennessy said. "Froch transcends boxing - I've just been in airports for two days and have been blown away by the way he's being recognised everywhere. "But if every one of his fights had been on terrestrial TV, it would be phenomenal." Thoughts?

surely in this current climate its micks job to give a little leeway to the terrestrial channels, he's only got his greedy self to blame! "remember that boxer carl froch? we watched him years ago beat that kessler bloke on that primetime channel" "nah mate did'nt see it" |

I wonder how many people outside of hardcore boxing fans have even heard of Primetime. As someone already said, if they had to go PPV, they should have gone to Sky.

I bet regular Sky or ITV pay just as much, as mentioned above.
How much are Primetime charging? What % of the money goes to Froch/Mick? |

Is there anyway to watch it over the internet on the primetime website? I know this will not be as good as watching it on television, but i can't understand why Hennessey wouldn't ensure everyone has a way to watch the fight if they do not have sky. Especially as it seems he could have it on terrestrial and still make £££
I have sky at home so it looks like i am going to have to make the trip back from uni. |

Thing is, he acts as though using Primetime was a well thought out business decision. He neglects to mention that Primetime was set up because no other ****er was going to show the Dirrel fight, so they saw the opportunity to make a few quid off of his ineptitude.
