Default Will Anthony Mundine be able to remain at 160lbs for long?

Aussie fans, educate me: will Anthony Mundine really be able to remain at 160 lbs for long without weakening himself?

It looks like Mundine's best efforts have come at 168 lbs. Since dropping down to the 160 lbs limit, Mundine hasn't looked quite as good as he once was. Mundine had to fight hard to beat Geale. Also, it doesn't look good that Mundine wasn't able to finish former welterweight Robert Medley within the distance.

What do you Aussie guys know about all this? Is Mundine's foray into the 160 lbs division destined to be short lived?

You tell me.

While draining his body to that extent is difficult and puts him under severe stress, the fact he loses any real advantage there is a problem.

At 168 his chin seemed to be Ok, his power average but his speed excellent in comparison to his opponents.
At 160, his chin seems shakier (he likely has less energy for a start), his power also seems to have dropped off a lot and his unique speed advantaged is lessened.

I reckon it's all a bit too much too late for him, especially when you factor in his woeful competition over the last few years.

I don't think he will be at 160 for long

He needs to fight Garth Wood at SMW sometime in the next year

He needs to Fight Green at around LHW sometime in the next year

People close to the Mundine camp say he's looking at an interim title at 154 or at 160 for his next fight....several fighters have been mentioned

He has a date in April set aside for his next fight and is due to announce his next opponent shortly

Another possible fight.......a birdie told me Sturm could be made champ in recess (nice way of the WBA saying your stripped) as he has some "big" problems....looks like he may decide not to fight the mandatory in Glovekin.

It could be Mundine V Glovkin for the full WBA 160 title....I don't think that will happen...however I do see Mundine V Glovkin for the regular title as Sturm will be super champ because of his numerous title defences

The first time he hits the low end of the scales and is able to obtain his lightest weight by strict diet he will be at his weakest and it would take a good few months to adjust to the weight loss and regain any strength back.

To be fair he gets a lot of shit here for the way he went down in weight but as a fan I'm pleased he did it gradually with catch weight bouts prior to real 160lb contests. Personally I think the weight drop is waking "the man" up to other facets of preparation e.g. diet etc and I only see him getting stronger at the weight as time goes on. Falliga fight aside I thought mundine fought a very high tempo fight against geale and I thought he looked strong against medley especially with regards to his workrate.

I doubt many on this board will concur but the only significant loss to "the man" is his power which hasn't remained with the weight loss.

Saying this I reckon an injury free mundine should be fine at the weight but I think he should knock the chocolate habit on the head during camp.

Does anyone know if he does his roadwork in army type boots still because that should be stopped if he's still doin it.

People are confusing Mundines weight loss with someone like Oscars weight loss for example.

Mundine has gone down in weight over a long period of time whereas fatarse Oscar usually dumps a cuntload quickly becoming weight drained and weak at fight time. Apart from obvious power drop Mundine looks pretty good at MW wouldnt you agree Ashely

I'm positive they must have had a stipulation in the contract about fight night weight or why else would oscar have an IV in the dressing room. I find that fight difficult to watch for me its tainted and oscar deserved to go out with a win.
