Really, in what sense?

They seem okay to me, it was the same numbers but the other way the first time. Considering the domination Funeka put on its not a surprise to me.

It pretty much assumes no adjustments on Guzman's part. Dead even was my expectation.

It's difficult for me to see what adjustments he makes

His problem was he couldn't hurt Funeka for shit and he couldn't keep up what he did for the first few rounds, he's not that type of fighter that can put on sustained pressure. Once it settled into a normal pace Funeka is dominant for obvious reasons.

Ya never know though, Guzman is a talented guy...Beard is a shit trainer. He would have to come out with something really special in my opinion to beat Funeka.

It was OBVIOUS to me that Guzman was out of shape. Anyone that cant see that has not been watching his career. That was an out of shape Guzman we saw the first time out. Funeka is a nightmare stylistically for him, but Guzman was gassed after 3 rounds and admitted that he did near zero sparring and prepared for 2 weeks for the fight. My money is on the more talented Guzman that has been training his ass off this time around. I expect it to look like the first 3 rounds except spread over the entire fight. Guzman UD for me. If hes shot, then he will lose again (its possible he is just past it from inactivity)

Funeka fought his best possible fight last time while Guzman fought just about his worst fight.

can someone remind me the last time a fighter took such a 1-sided beating in the 1st fight but came back to win the rematch?

I'll put a little on Guzman by decision. Guzman sure as heck isn't winning by KO, and I like his odds to win a decision better than what's being offered here. Guzman looked old, slow and out of shape against Funeka. It's possible that he's just old and slow now, but if he was just out of shape, then I can see him doing much better if he has a little more life in his legs again. No, he doesn't have the power to hurt Funeka, but he just wasn't avoiding any shots last fight, and he's usually proficient at popping in and out.

It was still a beating (fairly one-sided, albeit less so than Funeka-Guzman), wherein the clearly beaten man won the official verdict. And clearly I'm not a MAB hater.

I scored Funeka-Guzman wider for Funeka than I scored Juarez-Barrera for Juarez, but the point is both guys did more than enough to win and you could see it in the crestfallen faces of their battered, more famous opponents before the lousy scores were read.

Barrera did turn a 180 in the grudgematch...with many claiming the first night was an "off night" (the same thing some Guzman fans are now claiming). We'll see if he can turn a similar 180.
