I think the way he took out Mormeck is a great performance...

Losing to Carl Thompson is probably the best thing that has happened to David Haye and it showed that no matter how good and strong you maybe you have to stay focused for every second of every round...

Well funny you should say that - as if you are saying Haye is so physically imposing.

But if you look at the fight - it was man against youth.

And Thompson was the man.

I noticed how much physically thicker and stronger Thompson looked in that fight compared to Haye.

At the weigh in - there was nothing to suggest - Enzo was ****ting it.

He handled the weigh in ok - and was actually laughing and joking with Joe Calzaghe.

And stared Haye straight in the eyes no problem.

He only started getting stressed and worried - probaly about the time he was leaving his hotel to arrive at the O2 arena.
Enzo had banked on Haye really struggling at the weight, he probably half expected him to come in over. So when he took a drink before getting on the scales, made weight with pounds to spare, and looked in ridiculous shape doing so (not compared to the cut to shreds of pure muscles Enzo of course) i have no doubt Enzo will have realised at that moment that he was deep in the ****.

Weight drained was Enzo's only hope of beating Haye IMO

Class poll vote options;

Bear baiting Valuev, Massacre of Maccarinelli

Mormeck, although the flattening of Enzo got replayed many times on my phone to whoever would watch.

Lol at JC's face when the fight got called off. Was almost as funny as Sly Stallone's 'Noooo!!!' in the background when JC dry humped Popkins

The point I was making was that Haye allowed himself to get old manned and stopped... Both fighters are strong but Thompson used his ring wisdom and brawn that bit better...

The look on Enzo's face at the weigh in when Haye came in 2 pounds under the limit, looking ripped to shreds and 100% business was priceless.

I wouldn't be surprised if all of the above was planned by the astute minds of the Hayemaker and Adam Booth.
It was for sure imo. Smart guys..they love mindgames and fooled Frank and Enzo bigtime.

But which fight was the night where he impressed you most ?

Which fight was vintage David Haye ?

A night where he showed you what a prime David Haye is all about ?

What has been his most impressive career performance to date ?
Interesting thread Kos, although i dont think you can attribute a word like 'vintage' to Haye yet .. Mormeck and Valuev were his greatest wins to date, its obvious to say but these 2 wins were good for different reasons .. Mormeck was a solid, decent fighter, yeah he didnt have surprises but Haye had to take him down in his own backyard which is always to be respected .. Valuev was a great win simply because it was such an awkward fight .. Its impossible to truly prepare for a guy like Valuev, but Haye had his strategy down to a T, pot shot and get out of there so the big guy cant lean on you and sap that strength, it wasnt pretty but the tactics were perfect .. As for the Klits, i just cant see how Haye can win especially against Wladimir. Wlad sets up so defensively that Haye will have to go after him in the first few rounds, if Wlad gets into a rhythm behind that jab its going to be a long night for Haye .. Haye is a far better fighter than Wlad but Wlad just sits behind that jab, using his reach, totting up those points and never taking a risk .. Manny Steward has taught Wlad the Lewis type of fighting, which is emotionless, dull, point scoring and risk free .. Its an efficient style of fighting but it leaves the viewer cold to the bone .. If Haye cant get to Wlad in the first 3 rounds then this is over, he'll have a better chance against Vitali, Vitali takes a few more risks, he doesnt throw the jab as much and hes not as scared a fighter as Wlad .... Either way Haye will never compare to Holyfield no matter what anybody says, i've just watched Holyfield v Qawwi at Cruiser and Holyfield v Dokes in his early Heavyweight days. Holyfield was such an under-appreciated fighter back then, that beautiful bounce and forward rhythm, that attacking warrior style of taking shots and giving better back .. Haye can never hope to emulate Evander Holyfield. Its such a shame that Holyfield is destroying himself nowadays in front of boxing fans and the worlds media, because people are starting to forget what a brilliant fighter he was in his heyday ..

The main factor in ****** actually making the fight was Haye"s perceived struggles with the weight.

The fact that Haye was dropped heavily and was on unsteady legs against Mormeck added fuel to the fire.

******'s face at the weigh in was quality, the swig of water and being 2lbs under.... was surprised he didn't ask him to get on again!

I've always said i could write a thesis on the anti sweet science flaws, tells & tendencies that Dave has. But the current state of the HW division along with a muddy crystal ball of up-n-comers had me not at all interested in studying anyone north of 200. I just wanted a new face to shake things up and boy has he done it, my stock is in him.

Oh and i agree JMM was his best performance so far.
