Damn it!!! Was hoping he could bring over JMM so i could see a true ring technician in the flesh.

As for Hatton good luck to guy...there was more to lose then to gain by coming back. His career was only gonna get even more tarnished by fighting on at top level.

Never been a fan of his but i don't wanna see anyone getting hurt and i don't care what people say about he only got knocked out by the two best guys in boxing, his punch resistance is not ok to be in ring with world class fighters end of.

Local pubs must be very happy about this.

Anyway nice to see him retire, as I think its good for his health.
He had a good career and best of luck to him in promoting some new hot talent.

Im not Gutted, this may be the best decision..

For him to have one more fight means to lose that weight then train..he will be drained etc.
And who will train him?

I salute the Hitman ..thank you for the good times, fun late nights and gratitude!

12 years of great service to boxing and the most loved british fighter who only fought the best out there and only lost to the most complete boxers of my generation in my opinion

It is certainty the right decision for him, his health and his family if its true...its pretty clear that he doesnt have it in him anymore...From a personal point of view though it is a shame...A fight against JMM in England would have great

Hopefully now he has retired people can objectivly view how good a career he has, hes got far too rough a ride recently when it has really been undeserved, he wasnt elite but he made the best of what he had...always a bit of 'what could have been' with Hatton as well IMO, spent many of his prime years sitting on that crappy WBU belt but he can reflect on a great career

Will miss him though...his fights were always a big event in this country

Yeah fair play. Must be hard for him, in his autobiography I think he said he's too proud to ever go out on a loss. Regardless of personal opinions though i think it's agreed this is 100% the right decision.

Thanks for all the exciting nights and all that sentimental stuff i'd never get away with saying irl without being called gay

Too many boozy nights.

Good luck to the man, but I dont think we'll see him even nearly in shape again which is a shame, hes got himself fat in a few months, lord knows what the future holds unless he doesnt take care.

Think I'll wait for an official announcement.

It's probably true, but you know: Daily Mail, "he told unnamed friends on a boozy stag weekend in Tenerife."

The right decision - will look forward to hearing it from another source. A bevvied up Ricky telling someone when he was boozed up who told the daily mail - there's quite a lot of bullshit in that sentence.

Shame the khan fight will never happen but clearly ricky has tested the waters in training and didn't have it anymore, great little sub atg career. Proved he could have dominated in a calzaghe fashion but for whatever reason wasn't happy with that and had the guts to test himself in what he knew would be painful nights win or lose. I hope in his retirement and out of the spotlight he finds 'himself' again and regains that common touch which he seems to have lost in my recent meets with him! All the best to him thanks for the memories!

A going away fight would be nice. Put on a really good fight card and then fight a low level fighter. Finish on a win, let the fans know its the end etc etc However the undercard needs to be STRONG.
