Default Lloyd Marshall vs. Dick Tiger

A hypothetical for the posters who have seen more footage of Marshall than I have...How would Marshall do against Tiger?

Ive read the Cleavland plain dealers accounts of Lloyd outclassing LaMotta
I doubt Tiger could do much better.

I can see Tiger stopping Marshall and Marshall outpointing Tiger. Hard to judge. Giardello was able to outbox Tiger but it was his career-best performance and he got beaten in the rematch. I tend to think Giardello was a better boxer than Marshall and thus Iīd pick Tiger at his best to stop Lloyd.

Tiger and Giardello split 4 fights ,with 2 wins each ,but Giardello was near the end when he lost the last one to Tiger, he had only 4 fights more and lost 2 of them.
Tiger allways had problems with good boxers, but Marshall would engage him and his chin was not granite so Tiger gets my vote probably by tko late.

Career best performance ? Debatable.

Okay than letīs get more detailled. Tiger won their first fight comfortable. Giardello won their second fight close. Giardello beat Tiger in their first title fight clearly and in the rematch for that Tiger again beat him comfortable. For me Tiger has a slight edge over Joe over their series.

In their last fight Giardello was at the end of his career. Thatīs true but Tiger was also at the end of his stint at mw.

Well, it is. What would be your pick?
I don't see a correlation between the two.

Giardello looked great against Boyd,Troy,Cotton 3,Sandy,Carter.It was a question of if he was in shape.

Well, like Joey Tiger was near the end of his career. He would fight on longer but much of it when he was pretty much done.

Lloyd Marshall is superbly skilled but he aint your classical boxer like Giardello. He had his hands down and looked to draw his opponents in to counterpunch. He paked some power in his fists IMO and many doubt his chin but I think he is fairly durable.

I can see a fast pace being developed by Tiger looking to force the pace and Marshall countering well. I think aprime Marshall could keep up with the pace and get a UD. I also think the pace would drop as the fight when on due to Marshall countering iger and making him more wary.

I dont like Tiger against slick boxer movers. Not seen enough of Marshall he has some serious skill and he has to be favoured with wins over Lamotta, Burley, Ezzard Charles.

Both would be allot more at home today with 24hour weigh ins and a 168lb division

He is not exactly a slick mover tough.

No but he has great defensive head and footwork, combined with fast hands, traps and counters and great balance

So Tiger struggling with slick boxer movers is irrelevant then.

Marshall is basically a counter puncher.

Marshall is slick though and much more than just a counter puncher, its not like he doesnt move. It is relevant Tiger struggled with the better defenses and better boxers as a whole, his footwork wasnt good enough and I cant remember him using a jab/straight right

Tiger could crack pretty good though, unlike LaMotta. I think there's just as well a likelihood that this fight could look like Marshall's vs. Ceferino Garcia.
