Default Manilla and FOTC 12 Rounds

What if these fights were 12 round fights, would their of been a
different winner?

Default Re: Manilla and FOTC 12 Rounds

Interesting question.

While I appreciate 15 rounds places more stamina demands on a fighter than 12, I tend to think in most instances that the same guy would win, even if you alter the rules of the game.

Even when someone forces a stoppage in the 14th or 15th when behind, I am inclined to believe in a 12 round fight they would simply have made their effort earlier and still achieved victory.

This analysis is particularly true for tacticians who fight their fights round by round, like Ali.

Therefore, my vote is Frazier still takes FOTC based on a combination of sustained pressure and power punching (but perhaps without the late KD, as Ali would retain his legs and mobility better) and Ali still takes the Thrilla in a ground out 12 round decision.
