Sometimes you just have to push through.

Ask Paul Upham why he hasnt done another Almanac - the first one put a lot of noses out of joint particularly current fighters with unfinished careers.

24. Johnny Jarrett
23. Tommy Chapman.
22. Pat Leglise.
21. Jerry Jerome
20. Clifford Samardin.

Keen to see if Brian Roberts gets a guernsey Flamengo - happy to be patient and wait & see mate.

Looking at the names coming up my gut feeling is he may not quite make the cut, but hey I'm wrong, often!

To Roberts' credit he was an excellent fighter, winning a couple of Oz titles and having about 4 cracks at Commonwealth titles. Had some significant wins against the likes of Mulholland, Ferreri, Big Jim West etc.

His record is paid little attention to anymore. Tough little mongrel with the heart of a heavyweight IMO. I have the last few rounds of his bout with Henry Nissen.. great finish to an epic encounter.

19. Kevin Kelly

Yep.. perched just higher than Cliff due to a diversity in his career. Like the tough little man Jimmy Kelso, Kelly had a rough and tumble early career. The losses to Mayo and Clency convinced one Melb trainer that Kelly was a punching bag for the rest of his career... Sometimes we get it all wrong. With the national jM/W belt his, the Kelly Camp was approached as a soft match for Leo Young jnr in defence of his recently won Commonwealth Title. No one expected a tough night for Leo... The confident Johnny Cooper and Leo packed off to Adelaide and came home with nothing. Kelly made it good with a National and Commonwealth Crown in 2 bouts. Next stop, Wales for the great Pyatt robbery. Distaste reverberated around the Cardiff outskirts as Kelly became the latest on a long list to be 'removed' of a winners card. Regrouping, Kelly staged a second great career which saw him face off with David Reid for the WBA jM/W and ultimately grab the WBU jM/W at home.

Best assett. Jab. Range
Worst assett. Hot and Cold...

Best win. Leo Young. Sam Soliman (young). Chris Pyatt
Best Loss. David Reid

18. BIG Jim West.

For quality of opposition you can't look past Jim West. Over 12 years in the arena, West managed to tackle the hardest in the Oz game, capturing the Flyweight and jL/W titles. Challenges for both Bantam and Lightweight Crown against Brian Roberts and Matt Ropis were to last the full journey, as most bouts involving West did. Henry Nissen came off second best to West with the Commonwealth Flyweight Crown being handed over also in West's most triumphant night. His own careeer record might seem a tad shabby, but taking a closer look reveales a unique fighter. Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime.

Best assett. Endurance. Tenacity. Classic boxer.
Worst assett. ??

Best win. Henry Nissen x 2
Best loss. Paul Ferreri. Matt Ropis. Barry Michael. Brian Roberts.

In my opinion Kelly got a very raw deal in that decision against Reid. It wasn't a robbery, but I thought he won the fight, as did many.

Thought Kelly just nicked it but it was close. Certainly not to the extent of the Pyatt fight, that's for sure. I would like to see a list of Aboriginal fighters with no less than 25% but no more than 50% bloodline claimed but who fought out of a southpaw stance
