I've voted AA innocent, but NOT because I think he didn't intend to hit Dirrell, he's a frustrating fighter and AA had to go for blood. He meant to hit him.
But had Dirrell got straight back up, would we be looking at a point docked instead? (What little difference that would've made) Dirrell milked this for all it's worth. A shameless display of playacting. I'm not complaining too hard (I'd bet on Dirrell beforehand) but all he had to do was dance and run for another round and a half to take it. He took the easy way out once AA started to look lively in his business rounds. If Dirrell struggles against Ward, he's always got a career in the WWF. |

pointless and stupid by sauerland.AA isn't the first fighter to do something stupid during a fight but thats no reason to try and overturn it.Also sauerland risk ruining the whole tourney with this. The next fight camp should be interesting

The ref was poor but let's not forget that he called against KDs for BOTH fighters, even though Abraham's was a more traditional 'flooring' of the opponent. The DQ, however, was an entirely just decision. Sauerland look very bad here, and once again have failed to mention the acting produced by Abraham in plenty of his bouts with his childish low-blow complaints.

Yes Abraham's included a punch landing, which is traditionally required for a knockdown. The one that he didn't call for Dirrell was a correct non-call.

Seems a bit pointless. The ref was shite all night but you can't hit people whilst they are down. Still can't decide whether Dirrell was as badly hurt as he looked or whether he realised that there was a danger of getting knocked out late on so he thought he would take the dq. If he had got straight up then it would have been a point docked which at that point of the fight would have been immaterial Abraham knew he needed a KO.

Whether he intended it to end up like that is besides the point, my personal opinion is he didn't and it was more instinctual than anything. But the point is he did hit the guy when he was down and knocked him out, there is only one decision the ref can make in that instance.

I don't think he meant to get himself DQ'd, but he can have little argument over the DQ.
It looks a lot worse in slow motion, than it does in real time. The whole incidents plays out in a blink of an eye. I don't for a second believe that somebody who's pumped up, and going in for the kill will make, in a split second, a rational decision about whether it's right or wrong to throw a punch. Either way it is a DQ. |

Personally, its as iconclusive to me as the Buchanan-Duran fight. No matter how many times I watch, I cant decide if the guy on the receiving end is acting or not.
Dirrell got the nod, & the scotsman did not. What a pain in the ass boxing is at times. |

know he was down when he punched him?
Debatable. Was the DQ justified, 100% definetly. |

Neither poll option applies IMO.
It is pointless; Abraham should've been disqualified. But it all happened very quickly, I don't think he thought 'fuck it I'm gonna hit you while your down' it just happened quickly. Abraham has got what he deserved, certainly didn't get 'exposed' or anything, as some people like to say. |
