Default Big respect to Ruiz!

He did great lasting the 9 rounds that he did at 38 against the biggest rising star in heavyweight boxing. Ruiz kept coming forward at all times making it an exciting fight and trying his best to win!

He took a lot of heavy shots and in the end he was still standing, only his corner threw in the towel. He probably would've gone the 12 if you let him but I'm glad he was saved from further punishment.

No holding or anything to justify his boring reputation in this fight, he made me a fan tonight. Tough as nails and tremendous heart.

I agree, he was never gonna quit and not many guys could have taken them shots and kept coming. His nose was pretty smashed in and he just kept coming forward and throwing.

He landed a fair few shots tonight, Haye just managed to take the sting out of them somewhat.

Yeah it's strange how when a fighter is forced to work they give that little bit more. There was no one to hold or lean on, he had to chase Haye and it made for a much better fight.

I wasn't just impressed with his heart. Ruiz had the living **** beaten out of him and he was still coming forward like it was the first round. He still had good movement, head bobbing side to side and looking to throw leather. It's a real pity he spent most of his career trying to cheat/hug/maul his way out because he looked like a boxer worth following from tonight's showing.

I thought Ruiz pretty much fought to the best of his ability and it wasn't anywhere near good enough as expected. That's all you can be expected to do, try your best and try hard and he did that so he shouldn't have any regrets. He looked as good as he has done for many a year, it just wasn't enough.

If he hadn't cheated for most of his career, he would have gotten beat down in one-sided fight after one-sided fight just like he did tonight. Ruiz without the cheating is just another fringe contender at best.

Agreed.

Terrific chin and Terminator-grade persistence as well.
