18 months ago Calzaghe would need to be favoured at cruiserweight.

Calzaghe is a junky now his talent became to much for him and it is more like 50/50.

I don't want to see a fight like this made, past the time of it's peak relevance.

Good point. 50/50 sounds about right. Do you feel Haye has the stamina to match Calzaghe over 12 rounds. This isn't valuev he's dealing with. Its a much smaller target so I believe there would be at least approximately a 13.5% drop in his accuracy of power shots. Also he's never fought a southpaw. Which could lead to what I estimate to be another -5% in terms of accuracy.

What are your thoughts brother?

Haye has the power to knock people down. Though he rarely ends a fight with one shot. Ruiz got up time and time again. Haye is incredibly explosive, but not a concusive puncher.

Calzaghe has shown in the past, he is the kind of fighter who needs to be knocked out cold. You cannot wear him down with accumulation, it just doesn't work. Like Ruiz's chin to an extent, though Calzaghe posseses the speed, skills and workrate to win rounds against Haye.

Obviously Calzaghe dominates the later rounds, it just depends on how many rounds he loses and KDs he suffers early.

Time to check to see how many people David Haye has put out cold..

He is not a concussive puncher, he knocks people down but not out.

That won't work against Joe Calzaghe's "Type-CAA" chin.

Calzaghe would never be 50/50 with Haye, not yesterday, not today or not tommorrow.

He'd lose all if not most of his advantages if he'd have ever stepped up to cruiser.

I agree, the hype has definately gone to peoples heads. Haye is what I would term a 'non-puncher'. Most of his punches seemed to bounce off Ruiz apart from the ones that knocked him down.

Compare this to the bombs Calzaghe used to knock down the likes of Byron Mitchell and wobble Charles Brewer. I'd say that Calzaghe takes into the fight the better chin, and is clearly the heavier puncher.

Starts making you wonder what advantages Haye actually has other then being marginally taller then the 6ft 3in welsh warrior.

Look, i reckon you are on the wind up, but in case you are not:
haye 88% ko ratio right now.
As soon as calzaghe started fighting bigger men i.e. hopkins, and jones, although he beat both of them, it is clear that the move up in weight did something to his punch resistance, as he was put down in both fights.
Like i said before, i like calzaghe really, but both men belong in different weight classes.

I think the move up in weight would allow his speed to be even more of an asset. Think Pac, think De La Hoya, think Mayweather. In fact Calzaghe is the one ATG I can think of other then the inferior Marvin Hagler who only really did a great deal in one weight division. Surely his magic all time great powers will mean that he can move up to cruiser and heavy and do damge just like the inferior Micheal Moorer, Micheal Spinks, Roy Jones Jnr and James Toney managed.
