Prime H2H: Lennox Lewis vs George Foreman

I find myself in thge Lewis camp at the moment.

He just seems to have everything to get the job done, apart from exceptional durability.

My prediction hasn't really changed at all.

I still think Lewis has more ways to win than Foreman has and he would likely win if they fought.

But as many have said, if Lewis got caught Foreman could certainly get a KO.

I personally think Lewis would win my mid-round KO as Foreman's defense is too open not to get hit with some flush shots thrown by Lewis.

But is interest to see how opinions change over the years.

I would say he had great durability. He slugged it out with some of the biggest heavyweights of all timeand could spend round after round trading with the likes of Bruno, Briggs and Vitali.

Big George only has a punchers chance against Lewis in my opinion. I can see George rushing him in the first three rounds and probably catching Lewis and hurting him, but Lewis surviving and his jab slowing George down and accumulating the points in middle/latter stages of the fight to ensure a wide points win. I could see Lewis forcing a late TKO in this one too.

I am not unsympathetic to that argument, but after the Ramhan fight we have to at least acknowledge the counter argument.

Foreman squashes him in 2 rds.

Lennox at his best got KO'd twice, and let's not forget who the bums were who did it.

Prime Foreman was awesome, had excellent boxing skill, superior strength, was a predator-- everything Lewis can't handle. George won Olympic gold in one try at age 19, not like Lewis who needed two trips--8 years--to do it. Foreman was better as a raw amateur and was a much better pro.

Lewis fattened his record as a pro due to the terrible lack of quality heavyweights, and it's surprising that so many here give Lewis a chance, much less favor him, as so many here do. And by KO! Really, who exactly KO'd George, EVER? Just the great Ali, due to George being tired. Well, Lewis was EXHAUSTED and falling all over the ring vs. Klitscho by the end of 3 rounds.

This fantasy fight is a joke. Apparently, if a fighter fought before a poster was born, then the fighter is not as good as Lennox Lewis. Who never had boxing skill, no matter how many times Emanuel Steward was brought in TO TEACH THIS 2-TIME OLYMPIC MEDAL WINNER AND PROFESSIONAL WORLD CHAMPION MERELY HOW TO FIGHT!

Lewis was a big, lumbering, awkward, somewhat terrified fighter who won based on huge size/strength advantages. Skill?? Puhlease.

We can come up with a few instances that can be argued against the attributes of any fighter.

I could name guys like Jeffries, Uzcdun, Baer, Ali, Chuvalo and McCall as no brainers.

I am not a big fan of the punchers chance generaly, but I do have to not Lewis being stopped by single punches. I could give him a pass on the McCall fight, because some durable earlier champions might have got a TKO under that sort of officiating.

The Ramhan loss however, has to be noted as something that an inteligent finisher might duplicate.

Foreman KO2. Prime Foreman was a primitive, raw, awesome
slugging heavyweight destroyer. LEWIS impressively bombed out
many superheavyweights early, I dont know what his approach would
be. Id favor Lewis over most atgs with about 4 excpertions. George
would walk down Lewis, eat some massive bombs, and Unload
a barrage of powerbombs, connecting with the right hand, left
Hook/uppercut. I see a wild first round maybe Foreman even getting
stunned, however round two Foreman takes Lewiss best shots and
cuts off the ring and thats all she wrote. Prime Foreman had no
compassion, he could not be reasoned, with or bargained with,
he would keep coming until you were dead, he was the terminator!
Lewis is one of my favorite fighter, the only people imo who
could beat a prime Lewis are Ali, Foreman, Tyson, and Bowe.

The only thing stopping me from picking George is that swiss cheese defense he had. That's about it.

I think this will be a careful boxing match until George gets tagged hard. After that, all bets are off.

without Frazier he probably had a better resume in his second career. Lewis has an incredibly deep resume and fought high opposition from around his 15th fight against Mason.

Even after his loss to McCall he was fought world class opposition. Not only is his resume great in names but the way he beat some of them, like Ruddock Grant and Botha in 2 as well as Golota 1, Briggs and Morrison in 5 and 6 respectively are just testament to what a big puncher he was.

On the other hand you have the wins like Holyfield II although one was probably a better display of boxing skills, much like the Tua and Mavrovic fights.

Lewis really was a complete Super-Heavyweight, a H2H beast whilst having his ATG career is, on occasions, overshadowed by his KO loses when he was out of his prime, yet many try to avoid Tyson's loses to Holyfield and Douglas saying it can't count if he was out of his prime much being the same with Louis against Marciano, and a few other ATG's loses.
