Default Ellerbe interview with BBC RE: Mayweather vs. Hatton

It's worth a listen

He makes it relatively clear that the fight has to be in the US @ 147

Fighting at 147lbs is the only thing that makes sense. Floyd isn't going to cut weight to "get a shot at Hatton". Besides, Hatton won't be outsized like he was with Collazo.

I really don't think weight is an issue one way or the other with these guys in terms of the fight itself (and its eventual outcome). They're both very similarly sized, and PBF wouldn't have any huge advantage @ 140 vs. 147, cosidering he walks around at 147, and fights on fight night at 147 (about the same as Hatton). Neither guy should have an issue fighting the other at any weight.

Where the weight is going to be an issue is in negotiations. And the fact that Ellerbe makes the weight so specific, as well as the fact that it's got to be in the US (where it would be worth LESS $$$) proves they are going to demand the whole thing be done on Mayweather's terms.

I'm Dying for the fight to happen, but I really see this whole thing falling through very quickly.

make that fight at 147 and put for pbf in engalnd.he likes being booed and the hated guy so of course in england he would get the most loudest boos ever, i think it would be a very hostile crowd as well.

then pbf woops hatton and riots and shit break out.pbf hotel room gets death threats and all types of shit.so yeah i think they should get it on in engalnd.

worth it if they're fighting in front of 30k instead of maybe 10k.

If it makes dollars it makes sense. Right?

Hatton has proved he's man enough to travel abroad to defend his reputation. Let's see if Mayweather is man enough to do likewise, or is he a 'stay at home' *****?

I can't believe you just suggested he should fight Gatti.

Dude, SO MANY mayweather opponents have "gone down without a fight". It's not like Mayweather is going to start putting a beating on Hatton to find out if Hatton has the heart to bang with the best and fight until the end. Mayweather is going to box Hatton defensively.

Is there any doubt that Baldomir wouldn't have fought with a face full of blood, throwing power punches to the end? I'm not saying Hatton isnt above Baldo's level just that heart and determination are less of a factor than skill against mayweather. LOTS of fighters have the determination to beat Mayweather. None have showed (yet, at least) that they have the SKILL.

Yeah I've heard that one before, but at this point and any point in the future, the fight would worthless. Gatti needs to retire, now.

He makes it relatively clear that floyd is going to try to strong arm hatton into a deal. All the while doing his best to piss-off everyone in England with his blunt, ignorant, disrespectful manner. The mayweather people will have the British fans screaming for PBF's head by the end of the week, I guarantee it. They'll be some more blunt, provocative, insulting shit out tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that....until this deal gets done.

Hope, floyds ready for a pissed off ricky. And I hope ricky isn't fightin Mr. Genius too much these days cause he's gonna have to have his wits about him not to lose his cool and get ****ed over in the negotiations.

Please let Gatti alone he already made his job and needs to retire NOW.

Any further fight would be disastrous for his health.

I half disagree. Hatton gets hated on so much in america that if he lost (no matter where) it would only increase the distain for him. They would say "look at what a hype job your man is". He's got the best chance of winning this thing in England so he should make the fight there.

I will conceed that if he beats Floyd in England it will only increase the distain for Hatton in America.....where as if he wins in america he will be loved there.

Personally, I'd love to see the fight made in england first and my second choice would be MSG.

Floyd should meet Ricky half way and go to England were they may even make more money. If Floyd wont go to England then he should go down to Jr. Welter.

If Floyd wont compromise then it shows that he's still ducking.

There are guys though that will meet Floyd on any terms he wants such as Cotto, Margarito, or any of the top Jr Middleweights.

Whens the Ring gonna boot this phony boy?
