The former WBC bantamweight king will take part in the eight-man, one-night tournament at the York Hall on May 29. Belfast-born McCullough, 39, who now lives in Las Vegas, becomes the third former world champion to enter a Prizefighter event in the last few months. He follows in the footsteps of ex-WBA light-welterweight champion Gavin Rees, who won Prizefighter at the same weight, and former WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide, an entrant in Cruiserweights II last week. Matchroom Sport Managing Director Eddie Hearn was delighted McCullough had agreed to be in Prizefighter. "Last time out Prizefighter Cruiserweights II was packed with drama when number 2 WBC ranked Herbie Hide failed in his bid to take the crown," said Hearn. "This time boxing legend Wayne McCullough joins the action as he looks to re-ignite himself into the boxing mainstream in the sport's most popular event." |
