Default Pavlik leaving Middleweight division

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
the old difficult to make weight excuse.can see him beating journeyman and nothing more at 168.at 170 against Hopkins he was pathetic but he allegedly had a bad case of the sniffles.avoiding Mundine is the real reason.

Pavlik is done now. He won't beat anyone of note at 168. I see him receiving some bad beatings and retiring in 3 or 4 fights.

Yeah, seems like a last-ditch attempt to get back on track by Pavlik here - Hopkins provided the blueprint to beating him, unfortunately, usually once that happens it downhill from there on.

you can make changes to your style.he seemed to blame a fever and a bad night at the office for that loss.the Martinez beating may make him realise he needs a little tweaking.cant see him being a force at SMW though.

I'm not surprised he's struggling to make 160lbs. He's a big boy for a Middleweight. Super Middle is probably the place to be right now anyway.

168 lbs is a difficult division to make your way in , Super middle is stacked with class he will do well to stay alongside the also rans in the weight class , ie Steglize , Brhamer etc good luck to the bloke though i like Pavlik's fight any ones style .

Mate all he was is tall and skinny....... not much in way of physic if u asked me, the only reason why he's now having problems is because he's a piss head and probably as a result starting eating the wrong foods.

He's also a professional athlete, I doubt its as simple as grog and bad food, hes probably just grown slightly. Keep in mind he has been fighting at Middleweight for 9 years

KT fought at 140 all his career, what is your point??

The bloke has a very naturally lean physic as i previously stated, i don't believe after 25yrs u grow anymore ....... there's not much muscle going on with Pavlik

Yep, age catches up with you too, you don't get lighter with age.
He'll be ok at SM, not the best, but top 10 stuff, enough to make noises.

Yes KT did fight at 140 his whole career, although I think it was to his demise in his last fight.
Roberto Duran began his career at 54 and finished at 75 and more specifically from the year 1976 (25 y.o) he gradually grew in weight.

Although you may not 'grow' physically, you do get heavier as you get older even if in peak condition

Tszyu was a freak, though he nearly didn't make weight against Hatton. Not many stay at one weight. Pavlik is huge for a Middlweight. He was never going to stay there forever.

Plenty of fighters stay at the same weight all their careers.

2 great Aussie fighters like Jeff Harding (LHW) and Troy Waters (JMW) pretty much stayed at that same weight.

The biggest losers on ch10 are getting lighter

Off the top of my head, Harding started as a Super Middle and Waters also had fights above the 154lbs limit, I'm pretty sure. I can't believe that people are doubting whether a 6"2 guy struggles to make Middleweight...
