I don't think Mitchell is done either btw, I've seen a few of his fights this week and he does have the tools. Still got time on his side, could potentially improve. He looked really bad tonight, but I think a lot of it was a styles issue. Fans get really emotional after shit like this, and start throwing wild shit around about how so and so is a bum or whatever. A lot of its bullshit really, just folks who feel let down by the fighter they've invested themselves in.

Anyone whose been in boxing will tell you that one night doesn't break a career (unless there's permanent physical damage obv).

First Katsidis was being underrated on here and now JMM is. JMM counters Kats all night long and stops him on cuts. JMM's last 3 fights: KO's the lineal 135 King; KO's the 135 upstart; loses to the best fighter on the planet two weight divisions above his optimum weight. Prior to that, JMM loses a fight many, including myself, thought he won against Pacquiao. How does that run of oppo and performances constitute a fighter who is on the slide?

Marquez can counter him all night, but unless he can find the surprise punch, Katsidis will wade through him and wear down the older guy. Bigger, fresher, and most importantly Marquez isn't a southpaw.

That wasn't aimed specifically at you, mate. There was a reply where someone stated JMM was 'on the slide'. I've also seen other posters say the same thing since he lost to PBF and they seem to only be basing the opinion on his last performance and some of the rounds that Diaz was pushing him in and not looking at the overall picture. You said 'JMM can't be counted out', which is fair, but for anyone to claim he's slipping given his recent victories and performances (with 135 being a new division for him, I'll add), I think is ignoring the facts. Of course he's getting older, but he's still performing.

Katsidis' tendency to cut shouldn't be forgotten when you pit him against someone as accurate and JMM. Also given Kats' style, I think the fight plays into JMM's hands as well. Either way, I hope the fight is made if JMM wins the rematch between him and Diaz (which he should) as I was annoyed as fuck when it didn't get made when Schaefer was talking it up earlier in the year. FOTY written all over it.

He was beaten by a guy who was stylistically superior. It was nothing to do with the way he approached the fight. He did pretty much all he could do, Kats was just a monster.
