Anybody else looking forward to the fourth encounter of Vasquez and Marquez at the Staples Centre this weekend. I really hope it lives upto the last 3 matches however that could be asking a little too much. I've been watching the Showtime documentary covering the first 3 fights and it reminded me of how great they were.
I'm going with a Vasquez mid-late stoppage. |

Vasquez looked terrible last time out. But Marquez is getting old as well, and is naturally smaller. He's also had more fights since their last fight if I'm not wrong (ain't checking boxrec, if I'm wrong I'm wrong) so that one extra outing might help him be less rusty.
No doubt, barring any Sudden leap. In defensie capabilities for ether fighter, it'll be a right good scrap. I just don't favourVasquez to be able to pull off another Herculean effort like the latter stages of their 3rd fight. The damage will pile up and he'll get pulled out around the end. But I've picked Vasquez every time, and hope he wins this and looks good, setting him up against John/Gamboa/Caballero/JuanMa. I just feel this will be the last 'Elite' outing for both men. I mean, surely it won't be as good as the previous three. SURELY?!?! |

For the sake of both fighters I would also question if this fight should have been made but I suppose the money was too good to turn down. Its one of the few fights were I wish both of them could win - they are both true warriors of the sport.

Voted Vazquez UD but meant to vote Marquez TKO, Izzy is shot. I wish they would both retire though, they aren't good enough for the top level anymore, and Rafa is one of my favourite fighters and I have endless respect for Izzy.

I think Perez-Mares might end up being the better fight.
I'll with Marquez on points. If you look at their comeback fights Israel really had to go to war with a fighter he would have easily beat a few years ago. |

TommyV and Ishy, agree entirely.
Mares is average. I just hope Perez doesn't suffer the same fate as all the other fighters we've been hyping recently |
