I been searching for news and statements on internet from Andre Ward and his promotor about his next fights in this tournament.. But i cant find much about that!
So lets say that Andre Ward beats Allan Green and gets by Dirrell and goes to to semi-final, and gets to fight either Kessler, Abraham or Froch. Would it not be the most fair if Ward makes the travel to Europe this time no matter where the 3 euroes fight next? And could it turn out to be really bad that he never fought outside the states before.. What you think? |

And yes, I think it would be fair that he travel to Europe to fight. Not sure if it will happen. I think they may give the higher seeded guy the homefield. So......... |

I Think its a disgrace that he has managed to get 3 fights in the US and still tries to get every fight in Oakland. Even in negotiations, his team said their guy had to fight in the USA or wouldnt be a part of the tournament.
Fucking disgrace. Still a great fighter though. |

yeah man I mean before this Tournament he was the least heralded guy in it he shouldn't be able to call shots like that. To be fair if his round 4 opponent is european(if he makes it there which I'm sure he will) the fight has to be in Europe no matter if Wards sitting in 1st place or not.

I just rewatched that fight last night and it blows my mind that people are such babies about the outcome. Ward beat the shit out of Kessler. They could fight on the fuckin moon or in Kesslers actual backyard with his mom as the ref, and nothing would change the fact that Ward is a better fighter than Kessler.

I've said this before on here and I will say it again, Ward has fought twice in his hometown of Oakland in his career. He has fought in several different states, the Cayman Islands and St. Lucia (I believe). He also accomplished something no one in the Super Six or the Super Middleweight division has done. He won the Olympic gold medal. He qualified for the Olympics by fighting in Mexico and won the gold medal in Greece. Anyone who thinks Ward doesn't fight abroad and better yet doesn't fight well abroad is misinformed. Is it "fair" that two of his fights so far have been in Oakland? Maybe, but it comes down to pure economics. What are he and his team supposed to do, fight Green at some Indian casino in Oklahoma in front of 500 paying customers? I've been to Ward's last two fights in Oakland and the crowds have been phenomenal. 8,000-12,000 fans at both. Ward is one of the few hometown attractions in all of boxing. Are his promoters supposed to ignore that and throw away hundreds of thousands of dollars? To take this one step further, Green and Dirrell are both from the US. Where are they supposed to fight Madrid? Berlin? I've also heard from several sources that the Ward-Dirrell fight will either be in Detroit or at a neutral location. So, I'm not really sure what all the fuss is about.

Yes he outboxed him, but he headbutted him atleast 5 times, clearly. Let's say he fights AA, in Germany, and beats the hell out of him for 8 rounds and then headbutts him twice. What do you think will happen? |

I personally would like to see the semis and final in a meaningful place such as Vegas. If the judges are from neutral grounds, it shouldn't make any difference anyways, as long as the fighters travelling are physically well prepared for the local time.

What really pisses me off is how Froch and AA to a lesser degree are blasted to pieces and told to stop crying like girls because they are trying to get a second home fight, yet some like the poster a few above me thinks it is fair Ward gets all his at home because he won a gold medal ??? Reality check please because some of these other fighters have BELTS so surely with that type of logic it means they deserve all home fights. As for attendances im sure the euros could get as much as ward in the big stadiums of their respective countrys.

Is always a strange silence when ever ppl bring up Ward/Dirrell when talking of how people overhype their fighters or use double standards for Ward. I take the lack of replys as fact people know there is no real justification for it.
