At this moment in time it is not about how good this kid is, he can hit the pads all day long for me, what happens when he walks onto a pink mallet for the first time...

I aint watched all the youtube footage, but what I did observe was no crisp lead hand been thrown behind a nice tight defence, in its simplest terms the basics of boxing...

In the Amateurs and Pro's for that matter everything comes off the jab...if you can't jab, you will struggle...

I once heard Daz Sutherland RIP say.."Your jab will take you around the World Kid..."

So True...

He needs to be coached properly and taken out of the limelight as soon as possible...

I agree according to some theorists
if his parents
were athletic or particuarly active physically
around the time he was concieved he will have been
born with a higher percentage of fast twitch muscle fibres then other kids his age
this will allow him to stand out from the crown initially
but when his peers continue training
they will eventually match his snappiness

in addition to this his hand positioning is poor when he is punching
he is not turning into his punches
he is simply completing the same combintation at
high speed over and over
but with incorrect form
meaning that his muscle memory ia incorrect
and will need repairing in the years ahead
he crosses his feet when he's sparring
poor form
he also is sparring a complete novice who has no
concept of defence
a young boy put in the ring to make him look impressive
its a bit sick

its fairly impressive
but at the same time a bit
daft 6 people shouting
instructions at a young pup
boxing a novice
thinking they are sat on a gold mine

that kid is a great little boxer. i see nothing wrong with starting them this young, boxing teaches respect and discipline. and it will raise the bar of future boxing. i wish i was fighting in a club at that age.

The kid isn't too bad, better than probably 90% of kids his age, so why anyone is critiscising the kid is beyond me but the man this article is about is that kid in the videos dad

During the last 25 years I've met five or six dads with their 8 or 9 year old sensation. I will tell you what will happen...the kid will box for a dozen amateur clubs, the dad will blame the officials each time he loses and he will then change clubs, there will be talk of training in America with Roach, a soppy documentary maker will get behind the kid and scream blue murder when the kid is not selected for the Olympics in Rio (the fact that he will only be 13 will be lost on the idiot with a camera) and when the kid is 15 he will finally go off the rails. There are about six kids under ten at the moment in the UK who are the better than 'Mayweather' was at 8,9 or 10. There is no quick way to boxing success as a fighter, a trainer or a promoter. Get the kid in a normal gym and get him off YouTube!!!!
Trust me!

Adios.

Wow. Amen to that.

I think those of us who boxed as amaters can identify with what Bunce said about the fathers shouting at the judges, seen it so many times when their proteges got beaten.

What grinds me is the sparring sessions. I remember the sparring sessions of a British fighter who will remain nameless. The family and friends would gather round the ring and cheer at every little thing he did. Even in the rounds that the other kid did well all you could hear was the cheering for ***.
A lot of kids just quit because they were given little or no encouragement because the protege was the focus, número uno.
Sickens me to see that.
