I think it could potentially hit huge numbers, I wonder if Audley will be able to rise to the challenge and as people have already said large numbers of casuals would be interested in this fight. I personally know a large number of people who have talked about this fight happening who aren't even boxing fans and that just the point if it gets people talking it will do well.

As has already been said, it would probably bring big numbers, which is ultimately all that matters for fighters/promoters, but it's an absolutely awful fight for the hardcore fans. If it happens I have no intention of watching.

Audley only throws when his opponents stop chucking. Haye would decimate him in a round, and it would be a waste of everyones time, except for Hayes bank manager. |

Hardcore boxing fans make up a very very small % of sports fans in this country.
Sky can market this as World Champions vs Olympic Gold Medalist and rope them all in. They can make it sound competitive by talking about Audley's physical advantages along with Haye's questionable stamina and 'iffy chin'. As much as we'd hate the fight, it's a piss easy sell and would probably do record ppv numbers. Who was it who said, 'if it makes money, it makes sense' ? |

This will be the biggest fight in Britain for over 30 years... trust me...
People have got to stop looking at this from a knowledgable boxing fan's perspective. We all know that this could be easy for Haye and, in fact, so do most casual fans. But a lot of people will pay to see if Haye can shut Audley up once and for all or, on the other hand, whether Audley was right all along. This could EASILY sell out a football stadium (not Wembley though) and the build up will be something different. Crap fight but what an event! |

Haye is nearly 30 years old and it is looking likely that a fight with either Klitschko is not going to happen for a while. They may not ever happen as Vitali is nearly 40 and will retire within 18 months and Wladimir is 34 and may lose his title to someone before Haye gets his chance...
Therefore, as a Husband and a Father, David Haye has to make a fight that will give him security for the rest of his life. Apart from a Klitschko brother Haye can only make that kind of money against Audley. |
