What's the deal with the Ricky Hatton song?

Anyone know the genesis of this little ditty. I know it's sung to the tune of Christmas standby "Winter Wonderland" but has anyone stepped forward to claim responsibility for penning this ingeniously written song? Seriously, I think I'd rather listen to a bunch of Brits farting into a microphone than listen to that song again. If I were Ricky Hatton I'd respectfully ask my fans to write a better song!

Its a staple of English sports chants. You simply replace the word winter with the name of your favorite sportsman/team and you have a premade chant.

Blue Moon was a song from the '50's, had has always used it. Someone I know from Scotland was telling me about all the chants at their sports, England, Ireland, Wales, etc.

Blue Moon is his ringwalk song. Its the club song of Man City, he was on trial with them as a kid and his Dad used to play for them as a pro.

I actually love the song Blue Moon and the bastardized punk version actually works well for Ricky Hatton. I've got no problem with that but that fan chant is downright comical. As for the other poster criticizing my lack of knowledge as pertains to "brit culture", you've got me there. I'll be the first to admit that we across the pond are not exactly keen to "brit culture". At the same time, I'm sure there's a lot of stuff that goes on here in New York that would certainly throw you guys for a loop!

Yeah.... I still find it really stupid sounding. I guess it's just one of those cultural things that doesn't translate.
