Default Nigel Benn....."6 1/2 pounds" what aload of ****..!

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H7UzfVNM-8[/ame]

I still can't accept that Nigel Benn was 6 1/2 pounds overweight 1 day before, he fought Chris Eubank.

I think it's aload of ****, no way does Nigel Benn be so unproffesional, in the biggest fight of his life....?

Are people trying to tell me that Nigel Benn, would not of been checking the scales all the way through his camp..? its aload of **** and lies..!

I just can't accept this....

Chris Eubank was a great man, winning starts with preperation.

Perfect Preperation Prevents **** Poor Performance

6 1/2 pounds would be a major oversight - unless the scales they were using were ****.

6 in a half pound in a day isn't that extreme for a boxer to dry out to is it?

You hear about far worse.

Edit - Just watched it and saw it was in 3 hours

Why is it a load of ****???

The stories of what I have heard that goes on behind closed doors while fighters are in camp is unreal, Hatton on ths **** with Bob Shannon in the middle of his camp before his American debut v Collzao is one of them.

I know a lad who skipped off 7lbs for a Thai boxing contest..... so it's not beyond possibility.... that said he didn't really train much, a couple of early morning runs a week with me when I was out of work and some light spars each night....

Just seems a bit far fetched, a world class athlete putting himself in a position where he needs to do such a thing.

It was six and a half lbs in three and a half hours, not a day!

Over 24 hours, I could lose half a stone through sweat - providing I didn't drink much. But three and a half hours is pushing it.

Andy Ayling will tell you that photos of Benn looking drunken with lapdancers and stippers just a week before the Eubank fight found their way to himself and Chris, and how that is when Eubank knew he had him beat. Eubank secluded himself in a hotel room for six weeks watching Blackadder videos, when he wasn't training, before Eubank-Benn. All he ate was a few biscuits, some meat and veg each day - Eubank, that is, to keep his weight down.

Eubank was worse. He didn't monitor his weight. In the final week he would simply dehydrate as much as needed.

I dont see why it's so unbelievable.
These things happen in boxing.
Benn was always a big middleweight, often fought at 165 or 166 since his amateur days.
He was 26 years old when he fought Eubank, so it's natural for him still to be growing as a maturing muscular athlete.

I dont accept weight-making as any sort of excuse though, for any fight or any fighter.
