Default All results of yesterday's fight card in Turkey

Oliver McCall W12 Sinan Samil Sam (heavyweight)
Juan Carlos Gomez W12 Dennis Bakhtov (heavyweight)
Odlanier Solis TKO1(:43) Alex Mazikin (heavyweight)
Konstantin Airich KO5(1:57) Adnan Serin (heavyweight)
Herbie Hide KO1(1:23) Aleh Dubiaha (cruiserweight)
Yan Barthelemy W4 Gennadiy Delisandrau (flyweight)
Yuriorkis Gamboa TKO4 Araik Sachbazjan (superbantam)
(Note: Sachbazjan down in Round three)
Steffen Kretschmann KO1(1:46) Edgar Kalnars (heavy)
Selcuk Aydin KO2(3:00) Yury Tsybenko (superlight)
Mustafa Karagol W6 Patrik Hruska (middleweight)

Two results are quite outstanding IMO.
Solis ' first round stoppage victory over very decent fellow heavy Mazikin from Ukraine, and Kretschman's first round demolotion of tough Latvian heavy Edgar Kalnars.
Mazikin won every round of his encounter with Sedrick Fields winning a lopsided point decision against a fighter who defeated Shannon Briggs ,and who lost a split decision to McCall.Mazikin also had a very bloody close fight with Taras Bidenko who had made the water very hot for both Virchis and Valuev.
Props to Solis for his incredibly outstanding peformance in his second outing to a pro ring.
The young German 's performance against a very decent foe deserves to be mentioned ,too.Kalnars is an experienced figher who is a tough nut to crack for any fighter who isnt up to the game.Kalnars was Wlad's sparring partner, and neither Samil Sam nor Oleg Platov were able to stop the Latvian as quickly as the young German did.

Gomez couldnt take out the overmatched but very game Bakhtov.
I for my part would have loved to watch a rematch between Gomez and McCall and Sam vs Bakhtov instead of Sam vs McCall and Gomez vs Bakhtov.
Sam vs Bakhtov was a feast for the eyes-pure fun to watch, and Gomez easily outpointed McCall who had his moments, too.Especially in the later rounds of their encounter when Gomez was running out of gas.

I thought Gomez would knock Bahktov out but on the other hand its a good thing he went 12 rounds and its good to see that he was able to go 12 rounds. His conditioning seemed OK but that was Gomez not at his best yet.

Gomez has always prefered partying to sweating in a gym,and his attitude towards his profesion can be called pathetic.
Gomez is without a doubt one of the most talented heavies out there, but he is as lazy as a fat crocodile taking a sunbath on a hot day.
In one of his last fights he easily outboxed McCall quite impressively, but ran out of gas in the later rounds and could call himself a lucky dog that that fight didnt go longer.Otherwise McCall would have probably knocked him out.
As for Bakhtov he is no bum,and Gomez easily dominated every round of his encounter with the Russian journeyman.A victory against a decent journeyman.I very much hope that his next opponent will be a rival of the upper echelon of his weight division.
