i tend to agree, but barerra understimated pacquiao because he thought he was just another hamed. then, he got the worst beating of his life just like oscar.

Barrera wasn't in his prime. I mean damn Barrera was sloppy vs Kelly and couldn't come close of stopping way past his best days Tapia should tell you easily he wasn't the same fighter. His last prime was when he embarrass Hamed. Before facing Hamed, those were Barrera's prime days. If anybody that watch Barrera's career should know this.

He definitely wasn't prime. He lacked the work rate he previously had in several fights leading up to that Pacquiao fight.

That said, he was still a formidable foe and a genuine top five P4P talent when Pac beat him.

I think imo the way he change his style to the brawler to a boxer in which he stay as a boxer shows imo he wasn't the same fighter. If Barrera was in his prime in which he goes on attack like a bull, i think he would have beat Pacquiao imo.

He was exausted because it was a back & forth war. Maybe Barrera was considered a shell (considering at the point he went his last good run as a top fighter in the sport) but I don't recall Morales being considered a shell at all. Prior to that fight Morales had just taken Jesus Chavez WBC and Carlos Hernandez IBF. Morales had shown no signs of slippage at that point.

MAB was at his peak. looking at mab at their first fight against pac, marco didn't prepare well for that fight coz he thought pac was just a walk at the park.

I don't think so. Barrera just lost to better fighter.

Look at the Pacquiao's career after this fight. He is a monster.

After destorying Barrera, Pacquiao has began to create his legend.

Now he could possibly beat Floyd Mayweather in the match-up, which no one could have imagined 6 years ago.

Not prime but near enough. Still a top pound for pound fighter at the time.

My problem wit the criticism that MAB is not prime is that it makes the whole concept of prime as being in one match. Anything immediately before and after that, somehow the fighter is not prime.

This is a modern phenomena.

Cotto is not prime because Marg took his soul.
Hatton is not prime because he made the ring post his best friend.

You don't really hear this much from classic fighters. SSR beat the crap out of LaMotta like 30 times and that is considered a great ATG achievement. Fast forward to post 1990, you beat up some one more than once and they are classified as almost dead.

9-3. Winning 6 in a row right after the Pac match - winning and defending his SFW belt.
