Wlad was a beast... I honestly think you cannot do much better than this.
Granted Mercer was over the hell but he still was a game and was coming on nice winning streak over some Bums. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLDy88Ud5bA[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNU9xKJSrZk&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDf1opOXN9s&feature=related[/ame] I wish Stewart would bring this monster back...Wlad got all the potential he jut had to unleash it. That leads to me in this Young prospect like Robert Helenius. Dont ever compare him to Wlad. Wlad is on his fucking own class with talent&athleticness.

I think it (his change of style) also has something to do with Wlad being ko'd a few times. But I think it's safe to say Steward fucked up Wlad's marketability in the US.

I watched Wlad-Barrett a few weeks ago and was shocked to see that Barrett had no problem at all to hit Wlad. Wlad outlanded Barrett approximately 2:1.
Today, Wlad against (Prime) Barrett would probably be 5:1. |

Yeah that fight with Barret was quite a tough one. The HBO commentary is interesting. Barret claimed he'd drag Wlad into a "street fight" and he did just that. To them, Wlad proved his toughness. How perspective can change over the years.
The short left hook that knocked Barret down early in the fight is a fantastic one. The finish in the 6th was brutal, too. |

True. Wlad's more efficient and defensively better. But he's also 10x more boring. Which is not a good thing.

After the Chambers fights with Stewart and media criticism combined with the fact that he knows he's in his prime for the next 2 years or so i hope he'll resign himself to becoming more aggressive. From interviews it seems as though he has thought about this and i really would like to see him commit to being more of a killer when oppertunities arise earlier in the fight. I'm sure he can do this without sacrificing his defense and i really miss him letting his hands go in combinations.

IM sure there would be somewhere someone who could teach Wlad to protect himself and same time Fighting more versatile and mixing it up when he punches. |

Vlad was a more exciting and aggressive fighter prior to working with Manny, true. But Vlad was also much more beatable, because he was easier to hit. All in all, Vlad is better now than before training with Manny. Less exciting, less marketable, but better.

This is also before Manny Steward.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] That showes his diversity he once had. See the punches. And Steward almost cums into the commentary mic Listen to the last knockdown. Like music Wlad showed against Chambers that he still has the deadly left hook, but he won´t throw it. |

It's incredible how much power Wlad generates with those short punches. I don't think I ever saw short punches that powerful. But watching those older videos, it seems that he is somewhat slower now - he even could be slightly past his physical prime at 34. This will be offset by the experience he gained for some time, but not for too long.
