Bakhtov pulled out injured but Dimitrenko can hardly believe his luck with this fight on Saturday, how has this been approved for the Ebu title. Surely there is a more deserving case than this.
The guy can punch but seems to have little else to trouble Dimitrenko with anyone got any views |

Zavorotny is a big dude at 6'5 245 so size will be an almost non factor.
Dimitrenko is the favourite but with his ring rust and with Zavorotny's ability to pull of surprising upsets this one could get somewhat interesting, while it lasts. And I think it's a good thing this got sanctioned because first Audrey Harrison and now Bakhtov have pulled out on Dimitrenko. |

Didn't Bakhtov's team actually win the purse bid? So how come they let Dimitrenko box for the EBU title under another promoter?
I'll never understand pro-boxing. |

Remember that Titov and Oener paired up only because Titov's fighter, Bakhtov, upset Oener's fighter, Kretschmann. Because that fight was held on Oener's terms (Kretschmann was the favorite), Titov probably signed an options clause giving Oener a piece of Bakhtov in the event of an upset. That's how Oener unexpectedly got involved in this situation. I wonder if Bakhtov really got injured? A lot of times these "injuries" are fake; the promoters pay each other to move fighters aside, in order to make different plans. Either way, it's a tremendous opportunity loss for Bakhtov, because I believe Dmitrienko is vulnerable right now. |

Zavorotny just got a good upset win against a Russian prospect, want to say MAslov but I am too lazy to check boxrec.
I would reather question Dimentrenko's credentials. Has he won a fight since taking two counts and loosing to Chambers who was six inches shorter and 60 pounds or so lighter? Or just enjoy enjoy the fight for what it is- a scrap between two big heavies who have had some decent victories and some dissappointments. |

Anyway, this fight is precisely the kind of tune-up Dmitrienko needed. As a result, I instantly downgrade Bakhtov's chances of springing an upset against Dmitrienko, in the event that these guys ever meet. Dmitrienko's not "cold" anymore. |

ken I agree, what a way to shake off the rust!
Dimitrenko looked better than ever in this fight. He still has his limtations. Just like the Klitschkos. But he scored a good KO tonight and looked like he improved. |

I don't think this fight would answer the question. That's because Zavarotnyy is a plodding, stationary target; Chambers is a slick mover/jabber. Dmitrienko could be out of shape against Zavarotnyy and still look as sharp as Muhammad Ali.

I do not think that Dimitrenko has improved. It is just that his opponent was worse, much worse than Chambers. Dimitrenko was 118 kg (260 lbs) which is alot. He should go down to 110 kg.
