Default Douglas Holyfield vs Tokyo Douglas.

We all know Tokyo Douglas was a completely different animal to any other Douglas before or since. Holyfield demolished Nevada Douglas but would he live to see the final bell against Tokyo Douglas????

Holyfield wins by stoppage within 6 rounds.

Styles make fights, so I believe Holyfield from 89-91 is harder fight for the best version of Douglas than 89-91 Tyson. Holyfield wins this.

I like the best Evander to beat the best Douglas, if that answers your question , but it wouldn't be remotely like their actual fight.

Only if Douglas magically decides against throwing a right upper cut while walking towards Holyfield as he launches a right hand.. His conditioning would be different.. Would his strategy?

Tokyo Douglas would have got up.
Tokyo Douglas might even have stayed upright from that right hand.
But Holyfield would have been catching him with those counters anyway.
Tokyo Douglas was throwing uppercut leads against Tyson, just happens that those were always a good shot to throw against Tyson, and a bad shot to try out on Holyfield.

Ah...the beast that was 'Tokyo Douglas' again

Holyfield was the better all round fighter so I still see him winning. However, unlike the real thing that we endured,it would actually BE a fight. Evander takes it on points.

Especially as you're walking "towards" an opponent. There were many at the time who said that this was horrible ring acumen on Douglas' part and had he done it against quite a few greats, the same result would have occurred regardless of conditioning.

A less sluggish, better conditioned Douglas probably doesn't take such a sloppy and reckless risk.

Yes, Holyfield beats ANY version of Frazier too, if that answers your question, instead of beating around the bush by starting another Douglas thread.

Would Tokyo Douglas have 14 seconds to get up from his 8th round KD ?

No, he wouldn't make it to the 8th round.
Holyfield gets him out of there before the 7th.

After he sent BD to the corner after 4 I believe that took 2 seconds off the count and he continued at the next number....
