Default Does Mundine have a mental problem.....

with hard punching boxers?

Since Echols, Mundine has fought 13 times inclusive.

He has fought 5 opponents who could be considered KO artists. (not counting Snakeboy coz he is older than me and Mundine struggled to keep the guy upright for 6 rounds....... I think the ****er actually fell asleep on his stool, between rounds 4 and 5)

5 from 13 Fights have gone the distance.

Those 5 fights featured the 5 KO artists.

Every fight with a hard puncher has gone the distance.

It suggests to me that Mundine has a concern against punchers with real power and fights on the backfoot making it difficult to use his own power.

It suggests to me that your Kessler...... Calzaghe......Boxers will know that they will be unlucky to be KO'd by Mundine, giving them even more confidence.

It must present a problem for Mundine as most of the top rated WBA fighters (Lacy, Bute, Andrade, Inkin and Tsypko) can thump a bit, and they too could be reasonably confident that Mundine won't KO them. Surely, that knowledge, would have give a boxer greater confidence and maybe even an edge.

I will be interested to hear what those with intimately more knowledge than me about boxing skills have to say....... (That is a polite way of saying to EelsRule........ STAY THE **** OUT OF MY THREAD COZ WHEN IT COMES TO BOXING KNOWLEDGE, YOU ARE A COMPLETE ****ING RETARD)

I think you are right OZ......Mundine has problems with big guys that punch hard....this puts him on the back foot...less power if he fights off the back....however he must think his jab and run might be enough of a game plan to beat the better guys......providing he sticks the right now and again.......if he stays active every round he may have a better chance...problem is he tends to go to sleep 4 rounds out of 12.

I'm not saying different.........

I am saying that an agressive, big hitting boxer who moves forward, has an advantage over Mundine, in that he knows that it is unlikely that Mundine will make him pay.

i think you are right, Mundine wont take a risk, he'll just stick to the safe way,
in a fight and in he's way of picking opponents, and i think that's allright.
But he shouldent brag so much about how great he is, when he's actually a *****.

You don't really believe that coz you aren't a full on nuthugger yet.

You are sorta...... an apprentice nuthugger.

You haven't been swayed by the powers of the dark side.......or in Mundine's case........the beige side.

He's certainly struggled against these types of fighters. RJS has seen it, and has strongly suggested Mundine drop down to middle.
If he was confident that this is simply a learning phase for Mundine, rather than an actual weakness, then perhas he would have put more time and effort into developing Mundine's performance against these type of boxers.

With respect Oz if the best pound 4 pound fighter in Mayweather decided to take Oscar head on they would have had to scrape him off the canvas. The same with Mundine, he would be crazy to trade with Green or Kessler.

He's never really been that aggressive anyway, if Green had hurt Soliman like Mundine did in rd 2 there would have been no round 3.

I didn't say that he had to trade.

I simply stated that fighting off the back foot negates his power giving a hard punching opponent a mental edge.

It has to be a big plus for a boxer to go into a fight knowing that it is highly unlikely that his opponent will KO him.

Good post.

Mundine on the front foot delivery quick hard punches would trouble anyone. Mundines greatest asset is his ability to see punches coming this is why the big KOers havnt KO'd him.
