I saw Sweeney a few years ago in Boston. At the time, he was 190 lbs., somewhat overweight for him. He seemed to be a competent stand-up, orthodox boxer. He has a good jab, a good straight right, a nice 1-2, and he moves well on his feet. Sweeney's defensive skills seemed pretty good. Sweeney's problem at the time was excess weight, and fighting guys who are naturally bigger than him.

I've never seen Sweeney, but I like Iron Djib. Not a world class guy or anything, but someone who gets the most out of what he has and who is perfectly legitimate competing at the EU level.

Did anyone see Mohammedi-Karl? I'm wondering whether the knockout was a fluke, or if his chin is just really bad.

That Bum did just beat former Light-heavyweight World Champion Julio Cesar Gonzalez last weekend. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Also according to Sweeney the stoppage was absolute bullshit, and came from nowhere really. I haven't seen it, but he was ahead on the scorecards and had floored Romero twice leading into the final round.

Brickhaus here's the video to that fight [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv5HlDwOaGs&feature=fvw[/ame]

I do agree this fight may be too soon for Sweeney, and being honest I think he should be a Super-Middleweight. But he does have a similar style to Thierry Karl and can punch so hopefully he'll repeat the trick.

I find it strange that Sweeney traveled to Mexico -- hostile territory -- to take on a local boy. Maybe the loss was a fluke. I wish the best for Sweeney, who I spoke with when he was in Boston. Decent boxer...I hope he wins the EBU title.

he was on the promise of big money and big fights.

he was very dissapointed in the stoppage. He had yerman down twice and was a mile ahead on the scorecards when the stoppage came with just seconds left in the fight. he felt he was good to carry on and that ref stopped in permaturely.

Seen him fight a few times and he's not a bad lad. Sometimes he hard hit, but this fight could make him or break him. People say Mohammedi is no go... he must be ok to be number 1, watched a few of his fights on youtube, if he hurts his apponent, he really opens up with combo's...

I think that Nadjib looks good against poor opposition to be honest.

Its a adecent step up for both fighters to be honest.

I'm only saying what i heard, he had dropped his opponent twice and was well ahead, he got caught and ref had no choice but to stop it.
Thats why it would be interesting to see the fight.... to see what really happened.

Hope his training pulls off, heard people saying he will stop Mohammedi, i think its going to be a hard fight either way.....
