Default Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Andre Ward Both Ducked Legacy Sealing Fights...

Floyd Mayweather Jr.

A win over Manny Pacquiao would have obliterated and made obsolete all claims that Floyd ducked Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Paul Williams, and Sergio Martinez. And there wouldn't even be ANY talk of Floyd taking on Gennady Golovkin.

Instead, Manny Pacquiao ended up being iced by a chemically-enhanced Juan Manual Marquez. That KO has a huge asterisk next to it because of the tell-tale signs of roid abuse: HGH gut, significant gain in muscle mass, and most recently, the galaxies of acne that can be seen all over Marquez's chest and back in the Mike Alvarado fight.

Had Floyd fought and beaten Pac, he'd be forgiven for his recent string of weak ass opponents (Ortiz, Guerrero, drained and green Canelo) and fighting to a draw w/ Marcos Freaking Maidana!

Andre Ward

Could have shut up ALL of the critics had he taken on Lucian Bute, but he made excuse after excuse for why Bute didn't deserve the fight. The case can be made that Bute sat out the Super Six and thus didn't deserve the fight and there is some truth to this.

However, there was literally no one else in the division and it wasn't like Ward was some superstar PPV draw and had any leverage. Plus, Bute had this aura of a grand finale to him. Ward refused to rise to the occassion and instead allowed Carl Froch to do his work.

All that's left for Ward is to move up and face Sergey Kovalev, Bernard Hopkins, or Adonis Stevenson, but Ward ain't about that life!

Bute?

Ward schooled Froch who kayoed Bute.

For that matter, actually, Mayweather schooled Marquez who kayoed Pacquiao.

Bute was collecting souls outside of the Super Six. Ward beating Bute would have been the icing on the cake that was the Super Six.

We don't even have to go into details on how very different versions of Marquez each guy fought.

While I think the logic you used is completely useless and I can immediately come up with a counter argument (equally as useless) to negate it, I do agree that it is comical that Ward was ducking Bute.

EDIT: It is also comical that Floyd gets blamed 100% for the Pac fight not happening...but that has been done to death.

Bute KO'd the kat that KO'd Bad Chad in sparring during the training camp for Ward.

Not 100%. Maybe 99.9999%.

Bute a legacy sealing fight? Yeah, right. He became a glass jawed bum who never did anything of note the minute Froch beat him. How would it be any different for Ward?

Because no one knew he was a "glass jawed bum" until Froch exposed him. Ward/everyone else thought he was a real deal, and made ridiculous excuses not to fight him.

You don't need to make excuses for Ward, he is already kicking himself that he didn't deflower Bute.

I'm not making excuses for anyone. I'm just pointing out the obvious fact that a win over Bute wouldn't have sealed anything. The same people saying he would beat Ward would turn around and act like he was nothing more than a bum all along... Just like they did when Froch beat him.

That was kind of the point. Ridiculous assertions like those made in the OP deserve to be combated only with ridiculous logic (such as the ABC fallacy), not taken seriously.

You have to admit Ward did duck Bute. For no good reason too, Ward is leagues above Bute both in skill and durability.

And there will always be stupid people saying stupid things, on this forum especially. Bute looked amazing on paper and had Ward beat him (And I doubt anyone in the right mind would think Bute would win), he would have come down as the absolute king of the division. Right now, because of the whole 2 belts thing, Froch is gaining on Ward, despite losing a wide decision to him in the past.

Yeah, Im sure people will sit around in years to come and diminish Wards legacy because he didnt fight a guy who got publicly raped by Carl Froch.
