Default So what is Haye's quickest route to a Klitschko fight?

The Sun did a further article:

THE quickest route to getting a Klitschko in the ring would be to take on Alexander Povetkin for the WBA title.

Povetkin is the reigning WBA champion, with Wladimir Klitschko the ‘super champ’, which affords him special status when it comes to defences.
If Haye, rated as No 1 contender by the WBA, beats Russian Povetkin, an offer could be made to Klitschko.
Brother Vitali is WBC king. Haye is ranked No 5 by that organisation — and a scrap with Manchester’s Tyson Fury would be a *******.

INDEPENDENT TOP 10: 1 Vitali Klitschko (Ukraine), 2 Wladimir Klitschko (Ukraine), 3 Kubrat Pulev (Bulgaria), 4 Tomasz Adamek (USA), 5 David Haye (GB), 6 Alexander Povetkin (Russia), 7 Tony Thompson (USA), 8 Tyson Fury (GB), 9 Odlanier Solis (USA), 10 Robert Helenius (Germany).
How they match up

Wladimir Klitschko
PUNCH POWER: Not nicknamed Dr Steelhammer for nothing. Has KO’d 50 of his 59 opponents.
STAMINA: For such a big man he has supreme balance at all stages.
SPEED: Uses top jab to control and set up thunderous straight rights and a powerful left hook.
VERDICT: Because of his size it would take a foolish, or brave, man to bet against him.

David Haye
PUNCH POWER: The Hayemaker is explosive and effective.
STAMINA: Was ‘blowing out of his backside’ early in his career but has improved in recent years.
SPEED: Best asset. Can deliver KO power in the blink of an eye.
VERDICT: Marked Wladimir in late rounds by getting in range — but would need to gamble a bit more and a bit earlier.

Vitali Klitschko
PUNCH POWER: Instead of looking for the big one uses his size and reach advantage to get stoppages.
STAMINA: Dogged determination makes up for anything he lacks.
SPEED: Noticeably slower now. Dereck Chisora gave him a going over until ring nous took control.
VERDICT: Too cautious to really excite fans. At 41, age would be deciding factor in later stages.

IMO if I was Haye you would look to get fights with Povetkin, Fury and Pulev. Beat 2 of those 3 and you def have 'earned' another world title shot

Is there is a chance Povetkin would risk his shot at K2 to take on Haye in England?

If Team Haye is prepared to pay Povetkin well enough, the money Povetkin/Sauerland get from fighting Haye could be competitive with the 25% of the purse they'd get from Wladimir.

Povetkin/Haye is a much more interesting fight than Povetkin or Haye vrs. either K2--that's for sure. If marketed correctly it would be a great fight for the division.

Haye and Vitali need to retire, I'm tired of both these cunts now.
Fight someone, or shut the **** up.

Don't think he'll manage it inside a year now.

But I think the quickest route is;
Wait 'till after Wlad has beaten Povetkin.
Fight for the vacant WBA paper strap.
Don't fight some countryman no hoper in defence, but make a lot of noise again acting like he's a real titleholder, and hope Wlad fights him well inside the mandatory period of 1½ years that way.

Why should he fight against a Klitschko?? I don't get this hype about him .. knocked out by Carl Thompson, ranning away from Wladimir 12 rounds after 3 years of trouble and denials, beaten up against Solis like a little schoolboy ..

His achievments were .. making Walujew a little bit shaky in the end of round 12 .. winning against Chisora, who lost 3 fights in a row ..

Haye is a businessman, he knows how to get attention .. thats it.

If he face Pulev, Povetkin, Adamek, Tony Thompson, Helenius, Banks, Arreola or even some good prospects, he would loose again clearly ..

He stays out of the ring, because he knows he will loose and then he couldn't get those PPV fights, which bring money.

So Haye is finally realizing that in order to get a title shot he has to fight and not just sit on the sidelines and demand one, good.. If Haye wants a title shot he should call out Fury... Haye/Fury would be HUGE in England and would sell out any arena, the winner gets a shot at Wlad.

Gain 20lbs of fat, fight and struggle against some complete bums and change his name so no one knows who he is.

That seems enough to secure a Klitschko fight these days.
