Talking utter, utter shite. Explain how Duran is better than Ali. He is in no way greater, doesn't have a better list of wins and doesn't look any better on film. He has the better single win, but that's it.
Silly fanboy. Ward is shite too. |

The fact that ESB classic is resistant to the Ali-cult that has long-since taken over the USA adds to its credibility. It will be interesting to see how Ali is regarded among boxing 'experts' after the baby-boomers die out. The chances are good that the myth and romance surrounding his name will fade away and we'll look at him with our eyes open. |

Secondly, keep in mind that there have been many great fighters over the past century. Ali had the benefit of an exploding international media, great personal magneticism, and a set of athletic gifts that are far more precious among big men than among the lower, better/more skilled weight classes where fast-twitch fibers are a dime-a-dozen. That has to be digested before Ali-worshippers' ears can hear any further argument. Get him out of the clouds and remove that crown and scepter that the media, particularly baby-booming boxing writers have bequethed him. Look at him and his division in full context. |
