Default Moorer Struggled against Roderick Willis

Former two-time heavyweight champion Michael Moorer (51-4-1, 39 KOs) struggled against Roderick Willis (14-1-1, 8 KO's) winning a split decision by scores of 97-83, 96-94 on two cards, while Willis prevailed 96-93 on the third card.

This is almost sadder than his one round starching agaisnt Tua. I was a fan of Moorer's as a light heavy, but when he got into a wild brawl with Bert Cooper, it became painfully obvious that he didn't have a good chin at heavy. He got lucky agaisnt Holyfield, and showed about how good he really was was getting starched by Foreman, losing the Holy rematch, and of course, Tua.

He had a good, overacheiving carrer based on a decent punch and a southpaw style. But it is hard for me to understand why the guy pushes on when everyone knows that he never really liked fighting that much in the first palce. Time to hang it up before he gets hurt.

I agree.

This is an accident waiting to happen, due to Moorer's fame he will probably land a huge fight in the not-so-distant future.

Moorer should have quit after the Holy rematch.

Are you making this comment having not seen the fight?

If you are then maybe you should, I haven't, but we don't how good this Willis guy is, if he's decent at all.

Moorer is finished. Time for him to call it a day before he gets really hurt.

You have a point, but it seems to me he is on the tomato can circut, and chose this opponent for an easy victory.

Still, you have a point.

I didn't see the fight, but read on another forum, Moorer got dropped a split second after the final bell and didn't make it to his feet. Can anyone confirm this?

Thought he was meant to be fighting Shelby Gross (16-3)...?
Was the fight switched at the last minute then?
At least in Moorer's defence you could say he went from a 5'10" brawler to a 6'5" jabber...but obviously, still not a good day at the office for Moorer.
