Default Thomas Hearns vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

I say, if Floyd was somehow forced into the ring with this beast, the Pretty Boy doesn't make it past the halfway point. Just a thought.

This is the worst possible matchup in history for Floyd at 147. Hearns is much larger than Floyd physically and he had insane one punch power. Add in the fact that he was one the greatest technicians ever and 147 was his prime weight, unlike 130-135 was for Floyd, and the only possible result is a KO. Floyd gets beaten by the top ATG welters, but him vs Hearns would just be a massacre.

Indeed. This is the worst possible matchup I could think of for Floyd at WW or thereabouts.

Actually now that I think about it, you're right. Leonard was owning Hearns and didn't even need to knock him out in that first match to win, it was just the icing on the cake. Floyd probably wouldn't knock him out in a 12 round fight, but he would easily shut him out. At 154 it would be the same exact thing.. Hearns' chin would be a little better and Floyd's punches weaker, but he would still outbox him.

What the f*ck are you talking about? Leonard was the one being outboxed! Both of his eyes were damn near shut from being swollen and he almost had a carrer ending eye injury from Hearns. Hearns was winning the fight by a wide margin before he was caught with a big shot that really hurt him. I guess you never heard the famous phrase from Leonard's trainer (Angelo Dundee) toward the end of the fight "you're blowing it son, you're blowing it!".

Jesus Christ.. this forum has an annoying mix of people who make posts just to piss others off and people that can't understand that it is dumb to argue with them. The latter are also the same people who never understand sarcasm. I guess that's basically the whole internet though.

You're right I don't understand sarcasm on this forum, because its hard to distinguish sarcasm from the things that some idiots post here that honestly believe what they post. I mean I have read some it and they defend it whole
heartedly.

Hearns at 154 is in a different league, at 147 it would be closer but Hearns jab would build up enough points for him to just hang on in the championship rounds to win the 15 round decision 9-6.

I'm glad to hear you were being sarcastic. That's why I waited to post because I wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic or not...it's sometimes hard to tell if someone's being sarcastic by just reading words and not hearing someone's tone of voice.

Anyway anyone who knows anything about that fight knows that Leonard wasn't "owning" Hearns at all and if that would have been a 12 RD fight like we have today, Hearns would have won by a pretty decent margin and Leonard would have went home with a Loss and a nasty swollen eye. But you have to had it to Leonard for gutting it out, going out there, and getting the knockout he needed to pull out the Win.

Back on the subject at hand...if I had to bet money, I would put it on Hearns by decision. If Hearns can be ahead of Leonard after 12 RD's then he can definitely be ahead of Mayweather after 12RD's.

I'd bet my house on Hearns by brutal KO. Tommy was a freaking monster at 147. Between August 1980 and October 1987 Hearns won major world titles once at 147, twice at 154, and once at 160. PBF would not even consider a run at 147 if he had boxed in the same era with Hearns, Lenoard, Duran, Benitez, Cuevos, et al. There are at least three welters PBF would have absolutely no chance against: Robinson, Hearns, and Lenoard. Against Duran he might have a chance, but if they fought at 135 duran would eat him alive.

I wanted to give you a chance, but this seals the deal: you are a ****ing idiot. Bottom line.

Hearns was winning the fight and outboxing Leonard - not the other way around.

Hearns by UD or TKO

HORRIBLE MATCHUP FOR FLOYD - GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD

I voted that Floyd would never enter the ring. If he did he doesn't make it to the final bell
