Cool CHRIS BYRD is going to fight at CRUISERWEIGHT

I just read an interview with Chris Byrd, he said in hind sight he should have been at cruiserweight for his last fight. He wants to have a few fights at cruiserweight and retire in 2008.

Finally, I've been waiting years to hear him say that! Good luck Chris...

Provided he can make 200lbs without any problems..............there is no reason why he cannot dominate the division.

If he does, it will be good for him. He just doesn't have the power to compete with the best heavyweights.

He said in the interview he's tired of eating to gain weight and is walking around at 204 today. No problem making weight at all!

Chris is an idiot. He should have been doing this 15 years ago. But he took his big balls to heavy (props to him) won a spurious title or too, bored us to death and now in his twilight years of weighing a whopping 210lbs decides to make 200 and fight at cruiser? Puhlease. Retire already Chris. It was good while it lasted.

He should have made that move immediately after losing the IBF strap to Wlad.

At his age, I'm not so sure he can dominate the division....I believe Adamek would school him.

I know, he should retire. His reflexes are gone, he isn't as quick + elusive as he once was and all of that was so effective in the first place because he was in with plodding heavyweights - it would be negated further at cruiser. That, and his punching (barring body punches) were so soft at heavy that he won't be a destructive puncher at cruiser.

It's a bit sad actually, I really like Byrd.

Chris Byrd was not an idiot, his style is taylor made for slow, lumbering, big heavyweights. He wont be as good as a cruiserweight you will see. He was the IBF champ for some time and made a lot of money especially fighting against Klitschkos in Germany and defending his title a few times, he would never have made that money as a cruiserweight even if he was a long time champ there.

About his weight. I dont think he was putting pounds just to make heavyweight. At the time when the cruiserweight limit was 190 I say he couldnt have made 190 without any problems when he was fighting between 215-220.
