Default Calvin Brocks Weight

Anyone else think Calvin Brock coming in at a career high weight is a bad sign?

yes. but then again i have never seen him come in this heavy. maybe it actually might help him? we wont know til the fight starts.

but going on logic and history usually stacking on the extra pounds even if they are muscle, doesn't always turn into success.

ideally fighters should always fight at their optimal weight. draining themselves too much to be a big guy in a smaller division can weaken them verses headshots and bodyshots, plus sap their stamina and power. but also stacking on too much muscle can slow them down and sap their stamina as well. plus make them easier targets.

i am never a fan of fighters who try to bulk up or starve themselves to fit a particular mold. it's best to fight in the best, healthiest weight possible at all times.

and brock being a small-ish heavyweight doesn't bode well. i mean he always looked soft and featureless around the 220 range so what will stacking 20 more pounds do for him?

i found it funny he would come in heavy against a guy known for his speed, he was never ripped before so i cant imagine he looks good at 240, we will see i guess

I dont know if its bad or good for Brock, but I know one thing. He is a disgrace to the sport, if he comes in with almost 20 lbs. too much in a career definig bout.
I CANNOT STAND THAT!!!!

Kirk Johnson vs. Klitschko
James Toney all the time
Rahman
Now Brock
Did you guys saw one of the Russians ever coming in a fight with significant overweight....

I think that says a lot about why the eastern Europeans are dominating. They obviously take the sport far more serouisly than some americans....

What the **** is going on?

Has he fattened up, or muscled up? Either way, I wouldn't have advised it, but at least in the latter scenario he could still be in shape and taking the fight seriously, and the extra strength could potentially benefit him, though I would argue it usually isn't worth it.

His weight has me thinking about changing my original perdiction of him winning by decision, to Chambers winning by decision.

yeah he looks toned i think his mindset is that against wlad he was too small and guys who are heavier but still short like peter and brewster could give wlad problems.

i think byrd did against wlad and that was to jab and move didnt work and then when byrd tried to trade and do inside fighting he got battered aswell.

so brocks and brocks team have put together that you need to have punch and you need to barg him back...so extra wieght seems the way to go.

And let's not forget that Brock is quite slow on his feet to begin with. Adding on 20 pounds, musle or fat, is not good for Brock.

Chambers looks fatter than Brock does.

Chambers I think is over-rated, supposedly he is a speed fighter. Although, he doesnt seem that fast, just sits on the ropes and counter punches. Chambers seems nothing more than a poor version of Byrd.

Brock actually doesn't look too bad there.
