Now peak Tyson who demolished Spinks, Holmes etc etc was a wrecking ball but Lewis had great size, power and a boxing brain. Peak Lewis v peak Tyson is probably 50-50 imo. Hard one to call. |

Prime Lewis beats prime tyson.
Lewis is BIG strong and smart. Tysons shots wouldnt have landed. Lewis would have kept him away and then grabbed him and manhandled him if it got too close. Tyson looked small (same weight but height-reach wise) against Holyfield.... Holyfield looked small against Lewis. Tyson lost some speed, fitness, skill and desire late in his career but I doubt he lost much strength - strength is usually the last to go - and he got bullied like a bitch by lewis. I just dont see Tyson landing shots on a guy half a foot taller than him who is ALSO stronger than him and can man handle him if needed in close. |

Im not a big Tyson fan, but have seen many of his fights. I think that fight could be had 10 times and lewis wins everytime. Tyson struggled to beat fighters that didn't go into the fight shit scared.
Lewis, Holy, Tucker and a couple more. That lewis v tyson is a fav of mine. you can actually see lewis think " **** this guy is only human " then 3 rds later, tyson was gone. |

What an amazing fight that would have been...them both in their primes.
I lean to Lewis in his prime beating Tyson in his prime. Lewis's size, strength & ring smarts have me favouring him. |

It's really hard to say because Tyson's competition around 1985-1990 was not outstanding although he looked devastating. I just don't see him wiping the floor with prime Holyfield and Lewis.

Holy had the game plan for Tyson in any era. Lewis was far too big and strong at their peaks. Of course a 20yr old Tyson beats a 20yr old Lewis who obviously matured in later years. |
