not jake...but joey....what was he like as a boxer ?...he had a decent enough record, but no notable names...his whole career was less than two years but almost 40 fights.

I think he was a good fighter at a lower level. Jake promoted fights in partnership at a small New York arena he owned when he was still fighting. I think Joey was kind of a house fighter on these shows. A local attraction a bit like Ricky hattons brother Mathew is now.

In raging bull II the book written after the film Joey appeared to be doing better financially than Jake. Before the money came in from the film Jake wasn’t doing so good but Joey had a swank Manhattan address. There is a part in the book where Jake and deniro are training for the film and a fan walks in with a scrapbook of all jakes fights and Joey says to the guy "you did all this for Jake? Not many people like him, I mean, I’m his brother and I don’t even like him that much"

This book never hinted what exactly Joey did at that time but he appeared successful and weary of his irresponsible older brother Jake during the making of the film. According to that book the relationship between the brothers depicted in the film was a mixture of jakes relationship with Pete savage and Joey. I believe Joey sued the film makers for the way he was presented in the movie.
