Ali , Holmes , Louis , Wladimir , Vitali , Bowe , Markegiano , Frazier , Patterson and Liston all had primarily infraweak opposition during d vast majority of their reigns . In Frazier's , Bowe's , Holmes' and Patterson's cases it's obvious that they were protected fighters , in Vitali's and Wlad's (in Wlad's case only until a yr ago) cases it's obvious that their possible best opponents avoided them .

Liston deserved a rematch because he was only stopped due 2 shoulder injury , Chuvalo proved he was a worthy challenger and yet unstopped and deserved n immediate rematch if anything so instead of being replaced he should actually b added again , Doug Jones definitely deserved a rematch , regarding d rest i know less .

Either Eddie Machen and/or Doug Jones should have had the first opportunity at
the heavyweight title, after Cassius Clay won the title over Sonny Liston in February 1964. But, the deal makers had a signed contract, with Sonny getting a re-match if he lost, plus the rights to the promotion, and other $$$. Sonny Liston was the first heavyweight challenger to receive $1,000,000 +. |

I think Vlad's opponents were generally better than those of the '65-'67 Ali. Heavyweights from the '60s were just cruiserweights compared to today's guys (generally).
