A prime tyson at his ultimate peak, Mind and boxing abilities was a machiene no man stood in his way he won fights before they even got in the ring, I think the man was untouchable at his peak, a animal... I love Lewis and i know Lewis beat him fair and square but in his peak no one stood next to him, but as ussual the fight wasnt made and everyone had to wait untill tyson was in no decent mind frame and the rest is history.

I'd pick the bigger, taller, better guy with the superior strength, greater reach, stiffer jab, sharper reflexes, footwork and lateral movement.
I'd pick Lennox Lewis. |

prime for prime very close. I don't think either wins everytime. There's a chance Lewis could outbox and wear Tyson down in the later rounds but there is also a good chance Tyson tests Lewis whiskers and that would most likely be lights out. Remember they both lost to some sub prime fighters. Both fighters are under estimated and over estimated and always will be. The fact of the matter is that both fighters are capable of beating any heavyweight fighter who ever lived head to head. Whether they would have or not is a different story all together and a fucking fantasy so get over it.

Just like Lennox easily beat Ray Mercer? Tyson forgot more than Mercer would ever learn. Stick 88 Tyson in against Lewis instead of Mercer and Tyson hands Lewis his ass. You only have to watch the first round of their fight, an old fat tyson had Lewis all over the place. A younger Tyson wouldnt run out of gas or stop after one round. And secondly if Lennox took 8 rounds to destroy a fat old tyson, i cant see how hes going to manage against a faster, younger, hungrier Tyson. Tyson wins hands down all day. I really like the interview at the end of their fight where Lewis admits Tyson was great in his day and his era, and Lewis got better as he aged. Lots of mutual respect between the two. |

i have been pretty bias but through wtaching and learning new things and matters concerning their styles/advantages/disadvantages..Lennox has quick hands with loaded power..
Tyson had great footwark and combos were nasty, especially inside.. damn..the fight itself happened way too late in their careers..Lennox was the fresher and more prepared. |

Lewis would be the favourite going into the fight but Tyson would have a punchers chance.
Tysons peak was quite short and he never fought anyone of high enough calibre to prove himself - That is if you handily presume any fights he lost he was past his peak - giving rise to the mythical Tyson who never beat anyone that good |

Lewis best wins were over Tyson left overs including Bruno, Ruddock, Tucker, Biggs.... If Tyson gets stick for beating old man Larry Holmes and LHW Spinks, then does Lewis get a free pass for beating old man tyson and former CW holyfield....? Tyson would have more than a punchers chance against Lewis. he was faster, had a better chin, a better defence and he would find a way to catch Lewis |

I want to say that Tyson is this unstoppable beast, sent from hell, punishing all those standing in his way....
....but then I remember the Douglas fight. And I realize that even at 23, this was a short fighter that would have always had trouble with taller men, with a good jab, that weren't afraid of him. Lewis beats Tyson in a similar fashion of Buster Dougless. And if he doesn't win the first fight convincingly, than he would damn sure make Tyson look foolish in the rematch. And don't give me this shit about not having enough damn vaseline, or spending too much time with Japanese girls either. That "peanut butter and tunafish sandwich" shit doesn't slide. Douglas stood toe to toe, took everything he had, and than dished out his own and Tyson was left on the mat in a daze looking for his mouthpiece. Don't get me wrong, I love Iron Mike. I don't believe that he raped that girl, I genuinely enjoy him both as a boxer and as a media figure/celebrity. He's certainly one of the most interesting personalities and case studies that the sport has ever seen, certainly better than this current crop of boring Clit-bros. But his prowess as a fighter is highly overrated. Especially in comparison to other ATG's. HEAD TO HEAD ONLY, Tyson's probably a top 15 heavyweight fighter, somewhere around 13-14-15. But Lewis is probably top 5 in his own right, and I believe he would have stood the better chance in the golden age against guys like Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Shavers, etc. Legacy wise there isn't even a contest. Lewis is one of the best champions the sport ever had. Tyson had sooooo much potential, even after the Douglas fight, but we will never really know... |
