Default Fight report 12/12/2010

Just picked up the new Fist, seems my fight report was inadvertantly cut short after the second rd of Bryant-Angelo, heres the full thing.

Fight Report

WA Italian Club 12-12-2010

Ty Colmans third card 'Western Alliance III' was another sell out success as fans were treated to a five fight event.

Andrew Green(79.4Kg) vs Moses Ioelu(78.3Kg)

Green began trying to establish his jab while Ioelu fought out of a crouch. Ioelu trapped Green on the ropes a few times but couldn't land anything effective. A solid jab by Andrew got Moses attention and a solid left hook scored as well. Another left hook just before the bell saw an easy round for Green.
Green opened the second with three crisp jabs and then an overhand right. Ioelu tried to close the distance between the pair but was caught with a big looping right hand. Another left hook found the mark by Andrew as Ioelu called on Green to continue the barrage and Green obliged, a right uppercut, left hook combo wobbled Ioelu and another right uppercut had him in trouble at the bell.
The third began at a slower pace and the first big shot came at a minute into the round, a solid overhand right by Green scoring well. Green then went to the body landing some nice body shots punctuated by another stiff uppercut to Ioelu's face. Another overhand by Green at the bell sealed the round for him.
In the last Ioelu switched the tempo a little with better results for him, ad******g his guard and range just enough to make things harder for Green. Ioelu landed nice jab and then followed it up with a nice right hook to the jaw that got Greens attention. Green struggled for openings this round but still carried it on the scorecards with a better work rate.

Referee; Gary 'Springer' Ingraham

Judges; Ben Keilty 40-36, Carl Zappia 40-36, Bill Seth 40-36

Andrew Green W UD4 Moses Ioelu

Dave Letizia(80.1Kg) vs Brad Bond (80.0Kg)

Letizia began the fight working behind his crisp jab as Bond tried to work the body in this battle of the veterans. Two nice uppercuts caught Bond coming in. A solid left hook to the body scored by Letizia which was followed by a series of big hooks that stunned Bond. The round ended with nice left uppercut by Letizia which sealed a dominant first round.
A wide left hook by Letizia caught Bond to open the second. Letizia was controlling the distance well before Bond found success with his own hook. Letizia had his back to the ropes when both guys began a furious exchange with Letizia having more success before catching Bond with a massive right hook to the head which dropped Bond for the full ten count. Bond hurt his ankle on the way down but even without that would not have beat the count.

Referee; Bill Seth

Judges; Ben Keilty, Carl Zappia, Gary Ingraham

Dave Letizia KO2 Brad Bond

Pieter Cronje (99.8Kg) vs Oscar Siale (92.1Kg)

A nice overhand right by Cronje began proceedings but it was Siale's movement that was causing Cronje to miss frequently during the first. Cronje continued to press the action and Siale couldn't mount much of an offence. Towards rounds end Cronje landed some nice hooks and Siale responded with a combination to keep him honest.
It was all over early in the second with the size difference coming into play, a left hook stunned Siale and sent him to the ropes and the follow up flurry sent him to a knee where he couldn't beat the count.
Cronje will be hoping for a shot at the Australian Heavyweight title next year.

Referee; Bill Seth

Judges; Ben Keilty, Carl Zappia, Gary Ingraham

Pieter Cronje KO2 Oscar Siale

Daniel Dawson(70.8Kg) vs Jason LeHoullier(70.5Kg)

In the semi main event Dawson was looking to bounce back to his winning ways against tough American LeHoullier.
LeHoullier had early success with two left jabs which were answerd by a right uppercut from Dawson. Another solid left jab landed by LeHoullier. Dawson scored with a right hook and then an uppercut to close out the round.
Dawson started the second with a big left hook that sent LeHoullier back. Jason responded with some right hands and a nice inside short left hook. Dawson was landing more scoring blows and his higher work rate saw him take another round with a nice exchange at the end of the round with both guys trading hooks.
A solid left hook by Dawson opened the third before he walked into a LeHoullier right. It was another round for Dawson though as he remained the busier fighter.
The pace slowed in the fourth, both guys having felt each others power had them respectful of each other. Dawson landed some nice hooks to take the round.
The fifth was another slow round, a solid left hook by Dawson was the highlight, and a jab-hook combo scored as well.
The sixth had more action, Dawson continued to land hooks. A big right hand by Dawson backed LeHoullier to the ropes and the follow up flurry had LeHoullier covering up. Another nice left hook by Dawson scored to seal a good round for him.
Dawson began the seventh stalking but it was LeHoullier who scored first with a big right hand. Dawson was controlling the distance very well, keeping Jason on the back foot.
The final round again started with Dawson stalking, a flurry backed up LeHoullier which was answered by a nice left hook. Dawson replied with his own left hook which saw both guys in centre ring exchanging good shots. A overhand right by LeHoullier scored which kept Dawson honest until the bell.

Referee; Gary Ingraham

Judges; Ben Keilty 80-72, Carl Zappia 79-73, Bill Seth 80-72

Daniel Dawson W UD8 Jason LeHoullier

Robbie Bryant(72.5Kg) vs Sonni Michael Angelo(73.2Kg)

A left jab by Bryant opened proceedings. Angelo was winging wild hooks that were easily avoided by Bryant. Neither landed much of substance in the opening round.
Sonni began the second scoring with a left hook. Bryant was still struggling with his range before an uppercut landed, followed by a left jab right hand that stunned Angelo. The follow up flurry dropped Angelo who complained of a push but ref Ingraham began the count. Bryant was wild in his follow up which allowed Angelo to survive until the bell.
The third was scrappy, Bryant started to land some more hooks but Angelo's herky jerky style saw him just mange to avoid most of Robbie's big shots. Bryant closed out the round with a big left hook.
The fourth was more of the same, Bryant continued to score with hooks as Angelo managed to avoid being caught with two good shots in a row with his movement.
Sonni started the fifth aggressively but again it was Bryant who had success, a big right hook timed to perfection followed by a left hook that caught Sonni coming out of a crouch landed hard and had him wobbled until the bell.
The final three rounds continued along this pattern, Bryant landing solid hooks but never being able to land the killer blow as Angelo avoided catching two shots at once but never managing to land any meaningful offence.

Referee; Gary Ingraham

Judges; Ben Keilty 80-71, Carl Zappia 80-71, Bill Seth 80-72

Perhaps it came down to a choice between the remainder of your article and the page 15picture? Nice report Leon, but I'm glad they went with the pic.

One frantic fight fan come running, mobile phone in his ear, from the bleachers to the ring aprin. Seemingly there to inspire a closing effort from LeHoullier. Screams of "Throw more punches, throw more punches, throw more punches" must have echoed as far as Fremantle. Yelling down the phone "I said it three ****ing times... can't ya come up with something slightly more studious.... What do ya mean NO???" Phone boy left as quickly as he appeared.
Dawson replied with his own left hook which saw both guys in centre ring exchanging good shots. A overhand right by LeHoullier scored which kept Dawson honest until the bell.

A bit of artistic license there.

Fortunately only one or two people will understand it.

Unfortunately Dynamite they weren't filmed, only realised myself during the second fight of the night, if I had known I would have asked to film from my spot for posterities sake at least.
