Default Frank Bruno v Gary Mason

Still gutted about Gary's death ! These two sparred so many times together. Who would have won a real bout ?

Mason was even slower than Bruno, and even less agile and mobile.
BUT .... he actually had more smart moves than Bruno, he mixed his punches well, was just as strong and powerful as Bruno, and took a better shot.

It would be an excellent fight. Bruno has the tools to win, with a jab, and a bit of movement. But Mason would constantly break his rhythm and get to him, pressure him and hurt him. This could be a close gruelling fight. And either man could win, on points or by KO.

Yes, it's really a sad loss that Gary is gone. One of the most likeable men to ever grace the boxing stage.

I was talking to one of our British fight fans in the lounge about 2 years ago, and asked him what he thought about guys like Bruno, Mason and Notice. He said that a lot of diehard Brit fans actually thought that Mason could have beaten Bruno, due to his attacking style, and Frank's tendency to crumble...

I myself have seen Bruno fight many times, but haven't seen much of Mason, so I can't say for sure. Apparently, both men ( and Horace Notice ) fought out of the same Terry Lawless stable, and even sparred together on a number of occasions. Therefore, its not surprising that their careers never crossed paths, due to being managed under the same umbrella.

I'm guessing it would have been a crowd pleasing fight, especially for British fans. These were two big punchers who had the tendency to brawl.

Provided Mason's eyes didn't swell up too much, I strongly favour him to beat Bruno. He takes much the better shot and has the power to turn Big Frank into a shuffling zombie.

Mason by TKO.

Sad loss that he died the way he did, to a stupid, ****ing careless van driver.

I watched his fight vs Lewis the other day, was a good scrap while it lasted. Mason showed a lot of heart.

I think Bruno takes this though, if he controls with his jab and outworks Mason he should beat him. Not without a few scares mind.
