Just been announced on Sky Sports News that the BBBC wont be witholding any of his money. Cant say i'm surprised that they did this because it would have set a dangerous precident if they had done.

It's disgraceful that the fight was made in the first place. All Audley did was do what he had done throughout his entire career, dont see why they should with hold his purse for that.

If anyone should have lost money it was the promoter (booth)
Also the board sanctioned this fight didnt they? we all knew wat harrison was about if the man just isnt up to it physically and mentally, then that is what it is. its not his fault he shouldnt have been put in that position booth and sky only have themselves to blame for that debacle. did a lot of damage to the sport imo |

Good to hear.
Haye, Booth and Sky made this fight, not Audley. Audley was the person that had to put his name on the dotted line. |

At least they did the right thing in the end. Here's what I said at the time they announced they were going to look into it...it still holds true:
The British Board of Boxing Control have disgraced themselves by even considering if they should withhold some of Audley Harrison’s purse. Harrison lost quickly and pathetically. The man was overmatched. The only charge he could be found guilty of is “being Audley Harrison.” I did not realise that was a breach of the Board’s code. If the Board didn’t want to see Harrison outclassed by David Haye, well, they should not have sanctioned the fight. Indeed, whether or not they were right to do so is the issue they should be considering. When quizzed about this on Steve Bunce’s radio-show after the fight, Robert Smith, General Secretary of the Board, betrayed a worrying myopia: “Audley, as far as I was concerned, was an undefeated European champion,” he said. “It doesn’t matter how he won the European championship.” Of course it matters. Smith’s naivety about the legitimacy of boxing titles is pathetic. To become “undefeated European champion” Audley Harrison beat Michael Sprott. That’s it. Is beating Michael Sprott enough to earn a world title shot? If the answer to that is no then winning the European title is not inherently enough to earn a world title shot. If beating Sprott is worth a shot then Paolo Vidoz, Timo Hoffman and Alexander Ustinov have been cruelly denied their nights of fortune. Either that or Smith is talking nonsense. But, then again, why on earth should Robert Smith engage in some painful introspection when there’s an unpopular scapegoat available? |

What a load of shit. Brut's right. You can't find Audley for being Audley, but you can fault the WBA and the BBBoC for sanctioning the fucking fight. And you can also blame Wlad for being an awkward fucker in negotiations. And Haye for being just as difficult. If you had the option to make £6m for three month's work, would you say no? |

How could they even consider withholding his purse in the first place? it's not like he took a dive, he was just hopelessly outclassed.

No Issues with this at all. The guy froze and was beaten easily. As Slip said he didn't take a dive....he wanted to win IMO....but just wasn't and isn't good enough.

The people who allowed this fight to happen should be fined. That night will be remembered as a black night on the boxing calender and it's not down to Audley.
